    Thoughts as I wake up:

I honestly don't know how the left recovers from this in Britain. As my friend just pointed out, if we lose Scotland before the next GE there doesn't seem a realistic path to Labour winning a majority.

At the moment I don't buy any analysis that says it was down to one issue, I think Brexit and Corbyn's unpopularity are both significant factors. People are sick of Brexit dragging on and we've been systematically led to believe that no one outside of the Tories has a tenable position on the issue. Equally, the media has been ruthless against Corbyn. There has been virtually no positive coverage of him anywhere, even on generally left/liberal platforms. Every mention of him on TV is accompanied with the caveat that he is either an antisemite or that he is weak on Brexit. Neither of those things has any firm basis in reality, but it has been incredibly effective messaging.

I was just reading that Michael Gove gave a speech this morning addressing Jews, saying that they no longer have to fear a Corbyn government. It makes me more angry than I know what to do with.

The one, tiny thing that has brought me consolation is that Jo Swindon lost her seat. I don't know how anyone could claim that the Liberal Democrats have any credibility whatsoever after the last 10 years. I do wonder if they would have split the Labour vote further if they had been pro-leave, but for now it's clear that wishy-washy-offer-nothing centrism is not a solution to insurgent conservatism.

i worry about replacing this with americans and impeachment tbh. it absolutely is the right thing to do and we should be doing it, but i worry about the effect it might have on the rest of the country

I worry about this too, but at the same time, it'll probably be done and over with in January. As we saw in the last election, people's attention spans are WAY short anymore and there will probably be a dozen other things/scandals/etc by March that people aren't even thinking about impeachment anymore

Yep. They also wanted to force Nadler to use his power to stop allowing amendments so they could talk about how unfair the process was again because Nadler wouldn't let them get all their amendments voted on

  15. I want to read some more but....it really seems like Labour should've staked out a Lexit position immediately. The line was well, the EU is bad but leaving is so inseparable from the far right that no Lexit position really exists. But, it turned out they had 3 and a half years to build that position instead of just 2 or whatever they thought. Yeah maybe the Lib Dems pull 15 or 20% in that case but I don't think the Tories get 46% at least. Fuck, 46%. I do think the Tories get like 50% if they had gone the other way and been hard remain like everyone wanted

I don't think we're prepared for the 100% made up shit that these dudes that have a grudge against American govt/Biden in particular are going to completely make up to smear Biden.

I mean, when the entire msm is against you... It's hard to win. They only pretend they don't like the seeping orange for ratings. It won't matter who he's up against, they'll find ways to smear them that are mostly silly only to continue on pretending they're unbiased.
