Mitch has good taste in movies with the odd contrarian or out of left field weird love/hate for a movie. I trust he’s genuine but his Linklater take is very bad

 

it's the time of the year where try hard Star Wars takes permeate all corners of conversation, yay!

 

Both of these are correct and that’s what no one seems to understand.

 

Which linklater take?

 

empire is a fantastic movie beyond any sort of larger universe shit. an absurd opinion.

 

Star Wars sucks and I'm behind on the pod, but I really want to hear Wiger say "baby Yoda rules"

 

He doesn’t like how Linklater portrays characters who are both nerdy/thoughtful and also jocks

 

I genuinely wish I saw Star Wars as a kid because I don’t give a fuck about the original trilogy outside of an easy way to teach the elements of a story in class, and even then only like 10% of kids know who darth vader is. The only one I have any sort of attachment to is Episode 1, because it came out when I was a child.
The rest is not for me

 

I don’t remember what ep it was from but it was around when Everybody Wants Some came out

 

He also doesn’t think Dazed aged well

It’s more the idea that things are too neat and rose colored and idealistic. Not that I agree, that’s how he phrased it in doughscord

 

empire ends with the 1. the main character's best friend being imprisoned after a former associate betrayed them, 2. the main character getting his hand cut off, 3. the main character finding out the main source of evil in the galaxy is their dad. definitely rife with idealism and optimism.


it's a bad take and he's wrong, at least when talking about the OT as a whole. to say that the prequels do those things less than the OT is objectively false.

Ya'll should watch or listen to the podcast version of JackAM, it's a really funny and surprisingly sweet show. Both Jack and Cait are hilarious and a joy to listen to.

When Cait talked about some of the experiments he does, like not brushing his teeth for a week, that’s when I knew that it was not for me.

 

Speaking of Mitch’s movie opinions, “Tomorrowland was the start of a new generation of bad movies” is such a nebulous take that I have no idea what to think of it
