My Release Radar today is 114 tracks, or 7 hours and 19 minutes, hahaha; soooo much new stuff to go through

I've been using Spotify since 2012, and every time I come across a band or artist I like, even if it's just one song, I "follow" them, so any time they release a new track/album, it'll show up in my Release Radar. I follow well over a 1,000 artists/bands now, so my Release Radars are always stacked every week

Do or do not, there is no try.

I like it - also a fan of them adding album art to the side of songs in some playlists. Wish they would roll that out across all of them.

I miss Spotify so much since moving to Apple music since it was free with Verizon.

I have both (student plan for Apple Music, family for Spotify) and I keep going back and forth between what I use. Each has different strengths so it just depends on how I want to listen that day. My Apple Music recommendations are usually terrible so I'm hoping that by putting more effort into it it'll improve but it hasn't so far.

Question for anyone who might be able to help out.

So under my artists section, if I click into one of my artists it shows every song I every "downloaded" for offline play under their name (it shows the little green circle with the arrow next to the song).

Some of these songs I've unchecked the heart, which I thought was the way to download or remove songs from this section.

Anyone know of a way to permanently remove these songs from the artist section?

  13. Callum Macleod

Do or do not, there is no try.

That appears to remove them for me. Do you have them downloaded for offline listening in another playlist outside of “Liked Songs”?

mid not, I’d maybe uncheck the heart and then go into the settings of the app and clear cache, which should help clear up any lingering data/downloads.

I appreciate the response! I thought clearing the cache would do it but that didnt work. Its so strange.

I’m interested to see what people say because I’ve been a Spotify user/fan since it launched in the US and have had a premium account for as long as I can remember (with a student discount bear in mind)

I no longer get a student discount on Spotify anymore but have been playing around with Apple Music lately and kinda like it. I tried using it when I got my first 3 month trial when it came out but didn’t like it. It almost makes me want to switch from Spotify to AM. I’m kinda scared tho because I’m so use to Spotify. I’m not sure if I stay with it because I’m use to it and comfortable or have just never given AM a shot really. Also all my friends use Spotify too.

anyone have stories of trying AM or switching at all?

I switched to AM after Spotify’s last major UI overhaul. Was not a fan.

I personally love Spotify, but groan about everything in all the updates. However in terms of mobile I think it’s in a really good place right now. It also does a fantastic job curating playlists for me. Also is so easy to use in the car.

Though my only BIG criticism right now is I can’t remove anything from recently played.

I recently switched to AM as I need to allocate some subscription funding elsewhere. The audio quality is noticeably better than Spotify but more than anything I'm missing Spotify's curated playlist. I think they're much better than AM's offering. It's also much easier to find new music on Spotify. I'll reevaluate when my 3 month trial is up but Im pretty sure I'll go back to Spotify when I can.

Not exactly switching from one to the other - but I do have and use both.

Apple Music is great for your library and building your own collection. You can upload content that isn’t available on streaming (Some albums, b-sides etc.)

Works well within the entire Apple Eco System.

Love the live lyrics feature although I don’t use it as much as I thought I would.

I do, personally, find their playlists and music discovery to be subpar compared to Spotify.

Don’t get me started on their pre-add/ ew music notifications. It’s very broken and unreliable.

Spotify does a much better job with playlists and discovery, at least for my tastes.

They update more frequently and add features (That has it’s ups and downs - I don’t hate half their changes as much as most seem to)

I do find it to be terrible for having a collection of library.

Live lyrics are currently in beta and a new follow feed as well, where you get a real time feed of your followed artists when they release new music, which sounds/looks good.

Apple Music has started showing some stats via their web player/replay page which are nice. Not much compared to integrating Spotify with Last.Fm, however.

Not sure if any of that helps but I enjoy both for different things and keep paying for both, so they must be doing something right (my brother did give me his Student discount so I do have both for £9.99)

I tried apple music once. Idk if it was my phone at the time or what but it crashed constantly and was basically unusable. I don't rly have issues with Spotify. Gets the job done.

Only thing I hate about Spotify is that they limit how much music you can save to your library

The thing I’m finding is that I don’t think I use Spotify the way it’s meant to be used.

I’m not much of playlist builder like I use to be (I never really was) (I’m more of a album person) also, I’m not as much into music discovery through playlists which I’ve always heard Spotify is better at.

I love how AM does adding music to library, it feels more clean like how I use to do it in iTunes with my iPod classic. I can’t really see using two or paying 20 dollars to keep both. I currently have AM until May so i will make my decision after that runs out

From what you’ve said there, I’d put Apple Music as the winner.

The only cons I’ll have to figure out is I have two google home’s and like playing Spotify through them.

The two other being Last.FM and the Spotify wrapped at the end of the year which isn’t a huge deal compared to the other cons
