Need more time to see how it holds up over time, but as of now the only one I'd put above this one is FANSD, which I don't think can ever be topped.

Agree @SpyKi this is their most impressive musically they've ever done. Very natural and great progression.

Also I've decided I like Don't Blink more than a couple songs on here :)

I really like Elephant Parade now. The lyrics were silly at first but now that I'm starting to unpack them a little bit they're pretty interesting. And I love that build up at the end. Only songs I'm not into much here are Cat, Air For Free, and one of the three parts of Running. And then Sleepin', outside of the little Savannah homage is fairly forgettable.

Also y'all need to start including Birds and the B-sides in your album rankings. the Lining Is Silver is one of their top 5 songs.

Sleepin' and Air for Free are two of my favourites.

Birds and the B Sides has some of their best songs on it but a lot of throwaways too, don't feel like it's really fair to rank it against their albums.

Quoting you for the mere reason that you're speaking truth. I've probably spent more time with that album than any of their actual album releases.

On another note, I don't think there exists a digital lossless version of Air For Free yet. Downloading my copy from the vinyl now, but the file size tells me it's around 320 mbps.

    Nope, don't believe there was.

Also, is there any way to procure that Intro track to Marigold that @Jason Tate got with his press copy?

Curl Up & Die is my favourite from that collection of songs. Also love "At Least We Made it This Far".

I've always felt there was too much filler on Birds and B-Sides. Some great tracks, but a lot of ones that I can see why they never made a full release.

I think my favorite Birds track is Stenographer.

    Absolutely love that song.

Guessing the intro to Marigold was something like this? I want it.

Also I'd be down for more songs like "Stenographer".

    Thoughts after 3 listens:
    1. Bummin’ - love this song, something about the chorus just really feels good.
    2. Local Construction - this song is excellent. Will probably end up as a personal favorite song of theirs for me. Love the guitars.
    3. Mrs. Hippopotamuses’ - I enjoy this song, disinterested in most sports so I have no care on the team, but it's fun and I like the vocals.
    4. Cat - Eh...not sure about this one, didn't feel it on first listen. Was better with the other listens, not a huge fan but it's alright
    5. Man - LOVE this song. Really really love this. Lyrics are wonderful.
    6. Air for Free - Very good song, different and I liked that about it.
    7. God - Excellent song. Really love this one
    8. Elephant Parade - I actually love this song. I think it starts off pretty....odd, but the more it went the more I just loved it.
    9. Mountain Top - Excellent track. One of my favorites for sure. Love the verses.
    10. Sleeping - Good track, pretty forgettable on my first few listens. Didn't really stand out.
    11. Empty House - Very very good.
    12. Flower - Love it
    13. Marigold - Very good.
    14. Running - Just wonderful
    15. Prodigal - Beautiful.
    16. Heartache - Blew me away a bit. Have always loved their closers and I think this one is one of their best. LOVE it.

Need to listen to the latter half of the record a bit better, since I have usually gotten caught up in something and found myself not listening as intently. But on first few listens I love this album. Feel like exactly the album they should have released after FANSD. Will most likely end up as one of my favorites of theirs, I think. I think replayability will be very high.

This is already probably in my top 5 for the year despite having a handful of songs I think it'd be better off without.

Yup, probably in top 3 for me this morning was top 5 last night. I can see this being #1 depending how the other anticipated releases shake out.

    Had a few disappointments haha.

I was born in a swamp, born with no clothes on

I thought I was really enjoying this album as it started but it seemed like the lyrics were just really shallow and as the album went on I got less and less interested in it. Definitely some fun songs but overall this ones falling flat for me. And I actually really enjoyed CL...

The lyrics on this album are actually very introspective and almost all the songs deal with doing something with your life. Appreciating life. Self examination.

The whole "Air For Free" concept that there is a world out there and to do something is flowing through this album and really brings it all together.

And Thiessen's clever word play and charm rings truer than ever.

    Not at all shallow.

Listening to Mmhmm right now for the first time in a while and it is really good at what it does and there's some songs on here I just adore but I think Air for Free is more my kind of thing these days. I can see why some people are so in love with Mmhmm though.
