Listening to the P.O.D. Kast and they are talking about Hybrid Theory. What an incredible album. Also, it had the Michael Jackson effect where it did even better after Chester’s death.

I still need to listening to The Nothing. I’ve heard it’s top tier Korn.

Checking out the Around the Fur episode of the PODKast. When I heard that album, I knew they were light years beyond their peers and I cannot wait for a new album from them in 2020!

What are everyone's favorite 2nd/3rd tier nu metal bands?

Nonpoint and Taproot are bands I still fuck with today and will buy their albums/see them live whenever I have the opportunity.

I think the current bands I still listen in that realm would be:
    Sevendust
    Deftones
    Taproot
    Motionless in White
    Islander
    Korn

I’m sure there are a few others but I can’t think off hand.

I'd still ride for the first Flaw record. Other than that it's probably just select tracks.

Actually Sevendust is probably a good answer too. Seasons was a big record for me in middle school

Sevendust is extremely consistent for having like a dozen albums. I still follow them and will listen to whatever they put out/go see them live when given the chance.

Flaw's first two records still hold up pretty well.

I don't really consider Deftones to be nu metal, but I definitely still fuck with them.

Yeah, the Deftones and Sevendust have carved out their own genre and that is why they have survived plus they are just hard workers. The other bands I mentioned I probably wouldn’t listen to a whole album but select tracks for sure.

I know the genre is making a resurgence so we might see a new wave of bands in 2020.

I would also argue that Deftones are not a 2nd tier nu-metal band but that's besides the point

  13. I loved the first two Taproot albums. And was a big fan of the first 3 Cold albums.

This was always my favourite Taproot album, probably helped by the fact Billy Corgan helped write some of it.

It bothers me that they have an 8 CD box set of all the b-sides from every album, but it's only available on CD. I'd buy it instantly if I could get it digitally.

I’m listening to The Nothing rn and it’s like technically very well performed and written but man do I miss David.

god, Daddy is such a difficult listen, especially as someone who was also molested as a child. I also really fucking love it as a song tho idk, it does weird things to my brain.

i get this but david was really phoning it in his last few korn records. imo the nothing is awesome, their best since untouchables

I only really fuck with them up till Issues, tbh. Untouchables isn’t bad, I appreciate it on a technical level, but I struggle to get through it every time I listen for some reason. I’m p sure David has gone on record to say that the band started asking him to simplify his playing starting with Issues. I’m gonna keep trying with The Nothing tho bc has wanna like it like that.

i get feeling that way about untouchables bc it's fuckin LONG

It’s also bizarrely paced/sequenced imo and there’s something about Jonathon’s vocals on that album that kinda grate on me in a weird way I can’t quite articulate. But yeah, length is also a problem on Issues and Follow The Leader, albeit to a lesser extent imo.
