The Howard Hunt brick joke was one of my favorites in the whole movie.

I thought the bread and grape juice scene was a sacrament metaphor.

Damn that ending was sad. I kind of want to be put in a wall when I'm done now. 100% agree with Frank during that scene.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

There was a viral-ish tweet with a screencap of the "well liked by all" death overlay/joke. Was it in here? Does anyone have it? Thanks!

Angelo: They own a part of it. Somebody else got an interest in that. You know who?
    Frank: No.
    Angelo: I do.
    Frank: Who?
Angelo: No, I do. I own the other part. Not I know somebody who owns the other part.

thinking about this exchange pretty much daily

Loved Hoffa telling his lieutenants they’re all dumb motherfuckers and when Frank leaves he’s like “no no, that part didn’t apply to you!”

I think Brody’s overall analysis is sharp, but I don’t totally see the connection between his analysis and why it makes watching it at home a better experience. That argument felt pretty tenuous to me.

I’d highly recommend seeing it in the theater if people can.

Basically it’s that it holds up really well to rewatch and being able to pause and go back, to sit with moments mid-film, etc. That part of the analysis was the least intriguing to me, the theater experience is my preferred option 10 times out of 10, I just love reading his writing.

Yeah I’m mad I didn’t see it in theaters, BUT on the flip side watching over that 4 day weekend I just had was perfect.

I won't stand for the "the irishman is boring" meme. I started watching it for the third time the other night and had to stop myself from getting sucked in again and losing a night of sleep. Someone, please, anybody explain to me what is boring about these 3 acting titans coming together with Scorsese for one final say on the gangster genre?
