Hey now, there's one opinion here that isn't unpopular....

But seriously, I've been meaning to revisit The Albatross since I loved Dealer so much. Who knows if it'll click, but I feel it's worth another try.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think they were joking.

I can make it through the Medic.

Also, their Twitter account is making me hate the band. They think they're so fucking funny/original.

Also I've never heard of Julien Baker before this thread but that YouTube clip @Will Montei posted is the sweetest thing. Will check her out.

I just want to put out there that I think Julien Baker as a representation in this scene is great. I think she definitely has an important role to play and is doing so in a way that clearly touches a lot of people.

When I say that I find her kinda boring, I'm speaking strictly about the music. Just not into it really. Great lyrical value by itself is not enough to keep me coming back.

I remember one time on AP I said that TTWTYM was one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. I don't think it even hits 30 now. Still an enjoyable listen tho.

    a literal succubitch

    - I find newer Dying Fetus far, far more proficient and enjoyable than older Dying Fetus.

    - Carach Angren are great songwriters and can tell a story very, very well.

    Unpopular opinion:

If you're one of the numerous people on this site whose music tastes are ridiculously narrow in gender, era, genre, style, etc., I can't scroll by your posts fast enough in a thread like this. Congrats on having strong opinions about like 10 artists and zero broader context?

Always do the right thing. Supporter

I like the more positive unpopular opinions

Bowling for Soup were underrated, if still a kind of dumb, shallow band most of the time. They weren't too far off blink, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and stuff like that in tone and style, and I think they have two pretty solid records in Hangover You Didn't Deserve and Drunk Enough to Dance, but I rarely see them talked about much.

Jean Grae and Kitty Pryde are/were really good, interesting hip hop artists and maybe I just need to follow better circles but it feels like they weren't ever really treated as seriously as some similar male artists with far less going for them, or maybe it's just that they never really got big enough to get taken that seriously, I'm not sure. I've been out of the loop a little bit so I could be off. (I'm grouping them together not because they're similar at all, just that I think their gender might be part of why they aren't taken that seriously, maybe)

I know Tom DeLonge has become a huge joke and it's understandable why, and even though I don't think he's put out a consistently engaging record in 13 years, I still think he's got an interesting vision and admire his ambition to be THAT out there and crazy, so unabashedly. And there are moments on AVA records and his post-reunion blink work where I think he hits some highs, even if as a whole the positive or interesting output is, to me, outweighed by some bland or predictable stuff.

Even though I love Nine Inch Nails, I think Modwheelmood is my personal favorite project anyone involved in Nine Inch Nails ever worked on. "Problem Me" is gorgeous and wonderful. That's a little #hottake-y but it isn't meant to put down NIN at all, more just to say something about Modwheelmood, who I enjoy a lot and haven't thought about in a few years, actually.

Hey now, no need for all that. Anything I've seen posted was just in regards to her music. When I made my comments about her song, it was based on just the music alone. It's great that she means a lot to people for those reasons, but don't try to rope anyone who thinks her music is boring into anything else.
