That’s awesome

 

Yeah this is just a ton of fun. The whole cast is great but de Armas stole the show for me.

 

Chance confirmed for Rian SW trilogy

 

Totally not what I expected but a super fun movie

 

I don't think it counted for this weekend since it doesn't appear in the Top 50 for Box Office Mojo. I know our theater alone would have been enough to put it on there.

 

This was great. All the performances were top notch. Daniel Craig's performance was killing me throughout, so good.

 

This was at like 6.5 on IMDb last week and then as soon as screenings started it shot up to 7.7 and is still moving. Trolls won't be able to kill this one.

 

I may go see this again on Thursday with my parents. This is absolutely the kind of movie I want to watch again with a big crowd.

 

Seeing this alone at 7pm tonight. Haven’t been this excited for a movie in a while

This was wild. Have so many thoughts. Kept me guessing the entire time with the exception of one thing

 

Well, this fully lived up to the hype for me. Absolutely fantastic. Fun mystery, great (GREAT) characters, terrific performances and absolutely hilarious. Not to mention the whole thing was shot brilliantly. Yedlin is becoming one of my favorite cinematographers. I'd say my only gripe would be I wish Lakeith had more to do in this. But I do think his more stoic character played great off of Segan and Craig's more excentric takes.

I have a lot of thoughts that I'll dump in spoilers below.

Marta's puke tell had me worried when it was first introduced. It felt lazy, but it ends up being a great little wrinkle after its introduction. I also love how it feels like the whole mystery is solved for us right off the bat only for the threads to slowly unravel. For a good half, it just feels like we're watching how Marta is going to get away with no further mystery to solve. Loved that initial misdirect.

The fake knife gag at the end slayed (sorry for the pun) and was beautifully set up earlier.

"That was the stupidest car chase ever" and also the Baby Driver shoutout.

Neo Nazi kid is dressed exactly like Ben Shapiro. Perfect.

It was heartbreaking for Marta to realize she sort of still caused the death.

I can see how on the surface some people may think the politics in it are forced (especially the immigration conversation in the living room), but I think it's important to have in there to further establish Marta's true relationship with the family.

I know he's talked about it in interviews, but this is 100% Rian's clapback to all the TLJ trolls who harassed him. An entitled group who is built up off a renowned series of fiction who then revolts when they feel they aren't given what they deserve and instead attack the person who is chosen instead. Sounds pretty familiar.
Need to see it again.

Oh and the will reading scene was phenomenal. Michael Shannon yelling things like "eat another snack you piece of shit" at Chris Evans was something I didn't know I needed. Michael Shannon's hallway scene with Marta was incredible too. The banging of the cane on the ground was making me so nervous.
And I need to give special praise to Ana De Armas. She's incredible in everything I've seen her in and I'm glad she finally gets a front and center role here.

 

The movie did such a good job at naturally setting up a perfect reason for Ransom to ally with Marta when his initial plan fell apart. I completely bought into his "fuck the rest of the family, I just want my cut" mentality. The more I think about this movie, the more I love it. I need to see it again this weekend.

 

was hugely impressed with how the trailer misdirected you to make you think Armas' character was just another suspect and Daniel Craig was gonna be the lead in this movie. one of my favourite trailers of recent memory because once it was clear Armas was the lead I had no idea what was coming for the rest of the movie and it completely threw me. brilliant

 

I woke up with a craving for donuts. I think this movie might be the reason why.

 

I hope I get to see it in theatres. Yall are making me more interested than I already was!
