Yeah I was convinced I'd be asleep around 10, yet here I am. Second wind.

Anyway, Violent Waves is really good. Birth Of The Economic Hit Man, Brother Song, Bird Sounds, Blood From A Stone... Plus, we were truly blessed to have The Lottery featuring Geoff Rickly. You just can't go wrong putting AG and GR together like that.

Violent Waves was the first time I had serious trouble listening to Anthony Green's voice. At times he just sounds so grating to me on that album.

Good thing my sister made coffee before bed

I'm pretty sure my first exposure to circa was the lottery only bc I was obsessed with Thursday (think the way I am now w the hotelier) when that song came out and id never listened before. I didn't like it

I should've had the 1975, gaslight, and Tds on mine. Damn

I have a tough time putting bands with smaller discographies in my top 10 because, against bands in my top 5 with 5-8 albums, it's tough to be fair, but those last five on my list are bands I seriously can't get enough of and have earned a special place in my heart

It was tough to cut Deftones and The National :(

Doing that made me realize how shockingly few discographies I love front to back. Like, I looked through my iTunes to do that, and there were so many bands that have a couple albums I love and a couple I'm totally indifferent about. Actually, Gaslight fits that description too. So as you can tell, "favorite artists" isn't necessarily a term that does a good job of describing my music listening interests.

Mine was "Act Appalled" which is easily my favourite song of theirs not on OLG. Someone told me it was Saosin back in like 2006 haha.

The reason I didn't end up including gaslight was because I don't like handwritten at all. But I like the rest of their stuff so much they deserve some sort of mention IMO

I can't really justify it because as much as I love bands like The 1975 or The Hotelier the bands in my top 10 have higher highs for me and have all put out like 4+ albums I love.

I have this exact problem as well, it's tough to stack a 2-3 album discog against a 7-8 album discog

Full discographies mean a lot to me when it comes to putting together a list of my favorite bands. I love four of JEW's seven, and some days five because I'm in this weird back and forth with Invented haha. I'm a little more forgiving of poor/mediocre early albums though, especially if that band goes through a significant change in sound like with Thrice for example.

I don't care for anything prior to American Slang, honestly, but their last three albums are so good that I felt I had to include them. Some of the bands that caught my eye in iTunes because they have at least one album I absolutely love, but I still couldn't include them, are:

    Transit
    La Dispute
    Boys Like Girls
    Cartel
    Deafheaven
    Death Cab for Cutie
    The Hotelier
    Kacey Musgraves
    Manchester Orchestra
    mewithoutYou
    Motion City Soundtrack
    The National
    Noah Gundersen
    Nightmare of You
    Saosin
    The Summer Set

Like, none of these are "favorite artists" for me, though. God damn, I was so conflicted. I'm a strange music listener.

I feel like I will eventually get to this point. I've just been stuck in this state of content with the music I listen to and I need to break away from it. Large discographies intimidate me too, which makes it tough for me to spend an adequate amount of time with a band's discography. But I know eventually I'll get there because, like I said, I also have a tough time putting a band with only 2-3 albums against one with 6-7

This is precisely why I had to include The 1975 and Bon Iver, because I love 100% of their discography and that doesn't happen for me really ever except with bands that have put out a small amount of material
