Yeah I get that and normally I would agree. But I feel like punk is on a different level stature wise then almost anyone else in the wrestling industry. I feel like no matter what AEW has going on getting punk is only a positive.

 

Oh he's 100% a positive. I'm not at all arguing "AEW don't need that scrub!" but if Fox is paying him 6 million to not wrestle, i can't imagine how much AEW would have to invest to get him to wrestle and at some point idk how high the ROI is on a company still trying to build and grow and develop their roster.

 

Punk is still gonna raze whatever building gets his first entrance on a true WWE stage. that has not been compromised and anyone who thinks it has been is crazy. no Punk fan is gonna hear his music hit and go "ugh but it was spoiled by his appearance on a Fox panel".

 

I dont know', i just think the more you see him, the mystique of "when is he coming back" wares off. He's the ultimate foe for Triple H/Steph/Vince and I anticipated the next time i saw Punk was going to be some sort of game changing moment. Not a highlight show on FS1.

People will still go crazy for his first actual appearance and first match but... i dont know. It wont be AS big as it could.

I totally get it from everyone's point of view dont get me wrong. The WWE/FOX needed SOMETHING to make backstage watchable, CM Punk got an insane payday and doesn't have to wrestle, and AEW clearly can't afford Punk so not worth it. Just kinda annoying more than anything

Big Swole/Cedrick Alexander

 

I don’t think they can’t afford him, they just didn’t go about it properly and it rubbed him the wrong way, if you listened to his interviews he mentioned that. Then the way he spoke about them turned them off, so they’re generally disinterested in each other.
Regarding punk returning to WWE, this is the ONLY way he’s returning. He literally stated he doesn’t want to wrestle anymore, as recently as last month. He said the Fox deal is great bc he doesn’t work for WWE. Speculating and assuming he’s going to return to WWE otherwise, without this deal is nonsense, bc this is his foot back in the door and a necessary evil. If he ever returns to a WWE ring it’s due to this decision and working this closely with WWE staff

Not sure if it's been said, but Punks issue with AEW was trying to conduct business like friends. Which he probably refuses to do after the Colt Cabana situation

I don’t get what’s with all the talk of ACH not being right mentally. I doubt even a quarter of the stuff that happened has come out. Maybe he just got tired of working under a racist system?

Read about his run ins with other promotions. Holding up the Promoter for Beyond Wrestling for money and threatening him. His ROH comments were off at least in terms of Jay Lethal. Im going off of stories ive heard.

 

The Jay Lethal thing seemed super weird, and I’ve never heard anything about ROH being racist before. Is there something to ROH being racist?

 

This one is pretty obvious; he basically just ended his career. WWE isnt gonna release anyone, and most guys were signing 5 year deals when they came in after AEW formed...so he's got nowhere to go til 2024.

I'd really like some wrestler to force the issue on the way WWE handles their contracts; and before he ethered himself he might have had a shot, but nobody will have his back now.

On one hand I feel bad for the stuff people in wwe go through but at the same time it’s like you knew what you were signing up for. Not so much the Jordan Myles stuff but more so the cm punk type or people that just reupped and are asking for release.

wwe will never change as long as people are willing to take their money to go there.
