    Yeah I'm going to be out for a few weeks here, so I'm probably going to try using the bike machine at my local gym while I recover

    After you've taken off a good bit of time, it's always best to start small; slow and steady pace, and just a few miles. Then slowly work your way back up.

    Glad you're ok @Ferrari333SP. That sounds like a gnarly crash.

    I have been MIA lately. Pretty much my time is working, running, and strength/core training. My marathon is in October, so I am happy to report that I have gotten my long run up to 17 miles. As I get further into things I am going to start looking to schedule some races like 5 and 10 k's to add the competition factor and speed work to the mix.

    went out around 7:30 last night, it was still about 90 and dry AF.

    i forget how much the heat saps your energy. my city still hasn't turned on their public water fountains on the street i run too so i bonked hard.

    i think ill stick to mornings

    I purposely ran in hot conditions to train myself to deal with the heat knowing that I usually have to run in the afternoon/lunch time with my schedule. Other runners around here think I'm crazy.

    Running in the heat of summer and then running that first cool day of fall is the most amazing feeling because you can usually get in a few more miles and feel like a badass and you don't feel dead afterwards.

    I stretch and it helps a lot. Dynamic stretching, Look up this guy Dathan Ritzenhein's routine on youtube you need to deliver blood to all your tiny muscles and ligaments and tendons.

    Pretty much 100% at this point finally; doing a 5k in downtown Minneapolis this Wednesday. Stoked! Did a quick treadmill session after work on Friday, and did a 5k in 21:40, a full minute faster than the last 5k I did in April. Just hoping I can get under 22 during the race itself

    Not so stoked that it's scheduled to be 95 degrees on Wednesday.....

    doing a 5k in a week then a half in september. im super bad about signing up for races. i signed me and my wife up for a 10k a few weeks ago and then completely forgot about it. ended up eating the ~$80 entrace fees :(

    Did my worst 5k ever yesterday; was about 88 and humid yesterday at the start of the Torchlight 5k in Minneapolis, and the entire time it felt like a hot jacket was wrapped around my body. By start of mile two my body had essentially shut down and I was near walking pace; ended up with a 25:57, when last Friday on the treadmill I did 21:40. Before the race I felt the best I ever felt before a race, which makes this result even tougher. In any case, I know the pace is there; just gotta wait for better temperatures

    Got 12th today at the Chargers Bolt to the Q 5K. I went out way too fast and slowed down a ton. But then again I worked out too hard on Tuesday and Wednesday, went to blink on friday nd horse races yesterday.

    Currently coming to grips with the fact that I have a bout of runner's knee. I have never really been injured before. Reading up on it has me nervous as I am not looking to take a bunch of time off. Trying to find some stretches for my hips and IT band to help with possible alignment issues, but I am pretty frustrated at the moment.

    had a good run today. did the biggest road race in utah with about 13,000 registrants. ended up finishing the 5k at 16:21, 19th overall and first in my age division

    How's everyone's running going? After taking 11 days off for runner's knee I am back in the swing of things, and pretty much feel like I have new life.

    I have never found it to be my preferred way to run, but I think they make a lot of sense for rehab and winter running. And some of the high intensity workouts call for them. I think they make sense as a useful tool, but I could not solely run on one.

    Ran a 5k this weekend while visiting some family. Before I put my time down, I want to preface with a few qualifiers. It was really hot and muggy when the race happened. Like 90's, sunny, and sticky at 9am. This race was in Cleveland, so not really setting yourself up for success. To make matters worse, I was sleeping on a couch the night before in a house that had broken AC during this hot and ugly weather. Also, I am training for a marathon, so I haven't been doing much speed work for this race. This was mostly just to see where I was at and get a feel for things.

    I woke up early and decided to run the day of. I just tried to keep myself hydrated and out of the sun as much as possible. I ran an 18:23, and felt the time was pretty acceptable, all things considered. I think if the weather alone was better that I would have ran faster, but who knows. I will probably do another 5k and a 10k before the marathon. I really enjoyed the competitiveness of a race atmosphere. I've missed that.

    I'd like to think I could go faster, but yeah, it's definitely a first world problem situation.
