Man, after the GCW show on Friday and this tonight, I feel lucky to be a wrestling fan.

Full Gear was worth the $50 alone just for Mox/Omega. Jesus Christmas. Excellent in ring storytelling by Cody too.

MJF!!!!! I was so confused by that MJF/Cody story but that was great. Somehow they made me not expect it.

jesus moxley/omega is so uncomfortable. Is barbed wire not gimmicked?

The bat and broom seemed real-ish, but they didnt really use it in terrible ways for that (though Mox did get a cut from one of the broom shots that looked a little deep).

The "barbed wire bed" was definitely gimmicked. If you've seen Funk/Sabu, where they did a leg drop through a barbed wire table, they literally had to cut them out of it because their clothes were so stuck on the wire, and the wire they were stick in caught on each other as well.

Actually, all the really cool spots (mouse traps, barbed wire bed, glass) were pretty tame to take relative to how they looked. Mox should have been a bloody mess if that glass was real...and the match would have been over if the barbed wire was real. The thing that was probably the dumbest was taken unprotected head shots with the trash can lid.

I got why the barbed wire at the start wasn’t gimmicked. They must have been trying to open each other up with that relatively safely so when the “glass” and other stuff came out they would still be bleeding.

I think that phoenix splash to the wood was the most dangerous, but what the fuck do I know.

I'll always know how I feel about a show truly the day after. Looking back at last night, it just felt so different then the PPV shows I am accustomed to watching and I love that and it makes the show so much more memorable. They really went across the spectrum in wrestling styles last night and man that makes things so enjoyable. The main events truly felt special, as much as I love NXT their main event builds lately haven't been the best but they just have the best workers in the world doing it. These main events felt like a BIG DEAL, WWE hasn't done that since maybe Punk/Cena. I could be wrong.

Whatever the case, AEW is becoming something I didn't even think it would become and I love it.

Oh for sure, but thats a high risk move that falls in the realm of ladder spots, cage spots, etc. It pops the crowd as intended and is planned. Taking trash can lids to the head (and I think Moxley took a chair shot unprotected too) is just dumb.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Someone on Reddit said that it was basically a deathmatch greatest hits match in the safest way possible.

That photo should hopefully squash the "did he blade" questions. I still think Cody initially forgot what the spot was and just decided to go with Taker/Shawn 25.

Had to google costochondral separation, chest/rib injury and can take months to recover from, i'm sure they will use the injury and include it in this great story they are telling with Cody, just won't wrestle for a few months.

i was unsure of how i felt about the finish to Cody/Jericho but after a night to sleep on it and read other opinions i think it's pretty much perfect. i also think the concern over Omega/Moxley is comically overblown. a lot of it was pretty safe and just executed very well. AEW's second full blown classic after Cody/Dustin

I’m just sitting down to the Moxley/Omega match now and it’s probably the only match I’ll watch. But the crowd seems ok so far. I can only assume that the AEW crowd are starting to calm down and getting more used to the product and not reacting to every little thing like they have before.

Apparently they were mic'ed bad even though they seemed good to me. Mike Sempravive who works for the observer was there live and said the crowd was 'molten' the whole show.

Agreed. NXT is great, but every Takeover feels very similar. They’re all fantastic do not get me wrong, but they tend to stick close to the script that works. The big moments of AEW PPV’s have all hit their mark and feel like a big deal.

I will say I wasn’t a fan of Page going over Pac. That seemed too early and too obvious, but that’s nitpicking.
