Meh, I'll bite only in the sense that they may not have known about the JJR situation. Doesn't matter whose tour it is or how great the exposure would be if they knew that they'd be touring with a piece of shit like him, tho.

That's fair. Like the Menzingers situation, it's in a weird hypothetical where we don't know what the artist knows. It's just disappointing

like if it's a matter of being "unemployed" for few
I think in some cases it is important to remember that small bands pretty much only make money by touring and cancelling last minute when the other support is announced as a POS could mean being unemployed for months. It sucks and it's one of the ways that the scene is kept at the whim of shitty people in power.

It's definitely caused me to not return to the record as much as I probably would have, even if I was lukewarm from the beginning. Same reason I kinda flaked out on Jeff Rosenstock. It's not an outright boycott, they just did something shitty that causes me to not be super into them anymore.

Idk how the IG messages work or what they saw/didn't see. It's just so weird to me that they very quickly and explicitly cut ties with the brother of one of their members, yet remained silent about CA.

Perhaps he only read the PMs by people he followed back, meaning that he wanted to hear from anyone within that Philly/Scranton scene who knew Tony? I'm not sure, weird look either way though I agree.

Damn, didn’t know that about Turnover. That’s pretty disappointing to me, first was the abuse and now this.

I think it’s how he handled The Smith Street Band thing. Could be mistaken.

He kept Cheap Girls on his label wayyy after the lead singer was accused. Still sold their records etc. when people called him out, he blocked them on Twitter

I know a person involved- yes but too little too late. One of those situations where I do feel he learned something but I’m just not super excited about him anymore or anything.

Full disclosure TWY are my favorite band but I’m constantly disappointed by how they handled JJR. Sure they’ve done good things for charities and such but it’s still disappointing knowing that at least 1 member is still on friendly terms with him. Not to mention the other bands that still actively employ him or bring him on tour. Just makes it all seem so overwhelmingly toxic and disappointing. I’m rambling kinda I’m sorry the WiFi here at work sucks

He did address it in a Reddit ama and apologized for freaking out/blocking people and not handling the situation better.

I don’t think he ever said anything about the smith street band but as far as we know he hasn’t worked with them or publicly supported them since.

Multiple members are lmao they are still my favourite band but yea. They were best friends with him so I get it’s hard cutting ties sometimes. Doesn’t make it any less shitty tho

Don't recreate the scene, or reinvent the meanings Supporter

Pretty positive he was actually in No Good News. He plays guitar. Matt Fazzi, who played on the TBS New Again record (and related to several other NY bands) plays bass for them.
