I mean, I’m probably more out of touch than most that post in here and I recognise at least 13 out of the 19 listed.

Gang Starr record is awesome. You could have told me they recorded this before Guru died and I would believe it. The throwback features feel authentic, and the contemporary features don't feel forced. Flows great and not cobbled together at all. Very happy.

I love it when doctored post-death songs sound authentic, modern features and all. I remember really liking Biggies’s 1970 Somethin’ because to me it sounded like a song he might have made in 2005. People didn’t like that album but I enjoyed a lot of the songs on there.

I haven’t heard it, but I assume it’s one of his beat tape type things he’s done before?

I know people were ragging on the Rhythm and Flow show for some strange reason, but a handful of the contestants released recent projects and D Smoke's and Londynn B's in particular are pretty incredible. Had high hopes for Troyman but his album is on some low budget Travis Scott shit. Oh well, Streetlight remains a great song.

I just think it’s way too overproduced

I just have a general distrust of pretty much all reality shows, especially ones based on talent.

It’s obnoxious and poorly made television (as is the case with most American reality TV). I finished it, it’s certainly entertaining and some of the contestants show genuine potential, but to question why anyone would think it’s not good is kind of absurd to me.

Not to mention that any show that puts the (often traumatic) personal experiences of people out there like that with the promise of a (potential) prize feels inherently exploitative.

New Westside Gunn tape is kinda great. His voice still gets a little annoying in places, but the beat selection is a lot better than previous projects.
