We're having the conversation about the pricing here as well:
My Chemical Romance Are About to Break the Internet • forum.chorus.fm

Basically comes down to the specialty of THE reunion show, how big the band is, the smaller size of the venue, and the attempt to fend off scalpers. Not that outlandish when considering pricing for large pop acts, as well as other types of media in a similar setting (plays/musicals, etc.)

I think MCR understands the economics of their demand moreso than their fans. They also have the fact that bands from the scene rarely charge these rates, so it seems like an anomaly comparatively.

Perhaps. But we're talking $150. Which is probably just under double what anyone would have expected?

In terms of economics, they could easily have charged a lot more and knowingly sold it out. They know that. But something just strikes me about it being so high compared to standard market prices, that this isn't just going to be a standard comeback or one-off show.

Yup no luck for me as expected. But at least I have 1000 dollars to put towards going to as many shows as possible on their reunion tour!

Very happy for those lucky enough to score tickets and excited for everything to come!

  6. Drewski

    Maybe so, maybe not.

$150 is a lot, but also, not a lot? But I think a lot of this forum gets caught up in what the smaller-sized bands on this forum charge. Vampire Weekend was charging $161 after fees for floors at MSG. I pay $110 for every Phish show.

are there still rumors that they're showing up at emo night tonight in nj?

It does sound kind of weird for their reunion tickets to be more than double what blink's reunion tickets were, but happy for them nonetheless. I don't blame 'em considering there clearly is the demand for it

In fairness, someone said they paid $125 for Kacey Musgraves tickets, so maybe I'm just out of touch with big US tour prices. When I'm in the US I'm usually either buying small club show tickets or big festival tickets, but nothing usually in between.

Which emo night? I don't see tickets avail for any nj dates until Nov 9

    hahahaha that was me lol

I was just making the comparision since the venue size is similar, and they're comparable in terms of "size" in 2019. And that's for a regular date, rather than the first show back after a break-up.

maybe that's when it was. something was mentioned in this thread like 30 pages ago.

I think $150 for a GA show is pricy by ALL standards, but I get it. It's definitely going to be massive event, major announcements, all the rock media is gonna be there.

Plus, they don't want anyone buying tickets who won't be able to go because tickets are non-transferrable, so yeah, it makes sense.

Haha I didn't notice! I'd pay that much to see Kacey. I saw her at the Royal Albert Hall in 2015 and I paid $35 for seats close to the front. Which seems crazy because Royal Albert Hall is such a prestigious venue and generally pricier - but I guess back then Kacey's pull in the UK was primarily Americans living here and Country fans.

can you come out from under your rock?

she’s incredible. Listen to Golden Hour ASAP

she won album of the year at the Grammys, ACM and CMA last year and probably the most deserving of it of the last few years

The way I think of a show like this is like basically you are paying the price of a floor ticket at an arena show, which is why I can justify it, but it's definitely a lot. Not really my business since I can't go anyway

And Kacey Musgraves is the greatest

I'm telling myself this as a means to talk myself off the ledge right now. I live in Albuquerque so I'm in reasonable driving distance to like 3 big markets so at least there's that but goddamn was I prepared to fly out there.

Heh maybe I'll check her out from curiosity. I don't really like any form of country music from my experience, but was just surprised I hadn't heard her name mentioned by someone IRL before. I don't really listen to the radio or watch music awards, so yeah, definitely under a rock :crylaugh:
