Audioslave was cool. Some of the Nightwatchman stuff isn't terrible. The newest project is unlistenable.

One Day As A Lion is actually pretty good. Inside Out was cool but it's not AMAZING. I think we all agree RATM is a pretty high bar to reach.

The live tracks are worth the listen alone. My god the band was incredible. Also, Phil Campbell released his solo album last week which I need to check out next.

 

I was most excited to see them again tonight and they killed it. Whole show was solid, but Gatecreeper and Judiciary were the highlights for me.

Finished the Motorhead box set! It was absolutely worth it. I love how the band straddles classic rock with a punk rock swagger and it was really great to hear the live recordings from the late 70's. The band loved to jam out!

 

So...
I started listening to the new Rings of Saturn and had to turn it off after the first song. I don't understand what their target audience is and it's like they all said: "Lets take Adderall and write some tunes!".

I appreciate the talent in the band of course but that's a hard pill to swallow.

Really wanted to go to this but there's just been too much going on recently. Saw him at HOB a couple years ago and he was amazing.

 

The new Sunn O))) album is the metal equivalent of meditating. Really good just blasted at full volume drowning out everything around you.

Seeing Sunn O))) live was an experience. I'd definitely do it again. But listening to them on record does nothing for me. Maybe I just don't have the appropriate stereo equipment/headphones.

 

Oh, I have Bose noise cancelling headphones (which I listen to everything on) and it is incredible listening to a band like Sunn O)))

 

Black/Death/Post Metal from France

 

I have some cheaper Monoprice noise cancelling headphones that sound pretty good and were compared to the Bose ones in a Consumer Reports review. I'll have to give the new record a shot on them. Drone metal always just sounds like feedback to me, but I'll give it another chance.

 

Never forget

 

it's pretty much this for me with the caveat that i'll never go out of my way to see sunn o))) live again. it was an incredible experience, but an hour and a half of straight drone metal being delivered to my ears was enough for my lifetime.

the one exception to this is their collab record with scott walker. that was an awesome one. rip.
