I wonder what's going on with the cancellations too. Haven't noticed anything cancelled around here yet, but on the AMC A-List subreddit, there were a bunch of people talking about cancellations. Maybe it wasn't supposed to go wide in certain markets for another week??

My local AMC is getting it, probably going to go on Saturday. Bummer that the only screens showing it are the dine-in ones where the console light stays on the whole time.

Damn. I never really notice the lights on the dine in theater desks, but now I totally will lol

If you prop the menu up just right, you can block the lights.

It got pulled because the numbers it was doing were incredibly low.

Glad it's not pulled from my theater but that's such a dumb move. Let it at least play and then decide if it's doing well or not.

I was expecting the audience to possibly ruin the experience for me, as all audiences that I’ve seen A24 horror (and horror adjacent) movies with have done. But the audience was, I think, as equally stunned by the performances as I was and kept quiet, only to react when it was clear Eggers would want the audience to react.

Secured six tickets for tomorrow after work! Same theatre I saw The Witch at, counted eight walkouts. Curious what the reception will be like haha

@yung_ting lol wow, do you remember at what scenes people walked out??

Honestly not anything particular, I think a lot of people didn’t know what they were seeing and it was marketed as a more straightforward horror film which it is, uh, decidedly not. The couple beside me were just like “what the fuck are they even saying? Nothing is happening” and got up and left a half hour in. My girlfriend and I shared the soda they left behind

I definitely remember people in the audience looking pissed/confused when the Witch ended, my friends and I were definitely in the minority there

The idea of walking out of a movie is so bizarre to me. I feel like people have to be going in completely blind, which seems ridiculous considering how expensive it can be

I had walkouts in the first twenty minutes of The VVitch as well. I don't think I've ever gone into a movie without knowing what it was in advance..

People walked out of the The Witch? (seems more right to spell it as W, versus VV, haha)

Don't remember anything about that film being weird/strange enough to warrent someone wanting to walk out of it. Thought that film was f****** amazing

People don’t like language and hard to understand characters, on a mainstream basis

also it's likely that tons of people didn't know anything about it except that it was a horror movie, probably expecting jump scares rather than an artsy slow burn
