I believe it had something to do with how he views them as pretty worthless. He has had experiences dealing with them at some old job where fires were a constant issue.

I honestly don't remember the reason clearly enough to explain well--just that he hates them.

If I'm remembering correctly, he worked at some sort of landfill and some of what people brought there had to be kept continuously wet or like it just would catch fire all on its own--and naturally the type of people hired there uh weren't great at their jobs.

Oh he definitely hated his job. But whenever they were called out to his job they apparently did a lot of standing around and shrugging.
