what sort of people would be into it and know about it, really? they're a band that came up in the punk emo scene then put out a record that those fans wouldn't like, and the stigma against that scene prevented many people from the indie scene from listening

they're still drawing several hundred people on the east coast, they're doing fine

    !!!!

The crowd was decent at my show, but Mitski show was a day or 2 before, so I understand. For most part, the draw of the band is dependent on the region.

Just like TWIABP, Told Slant are a band infinitely better live than in studio

Loone was amazing, I still talk about them and their performance all the time. I'm really really hoping that they make it back out here soon.

Absolutely. It was almost like they didn't know how to play, but also it was so perfect. I liked them a lot more than Told Slant. Musically and lyrically Told Slant was awesome, but the vocal style didn't really grab me.

I'm sorry, I edited my post. This show was my first encounter with either of these bands and I know nothing about their members. I do think it's unfair to say that I'm being hurtful and dismissive to the entire trans and nonbinary community for that simple mistake though. I did not refer to Felix as "he" because of any assumptions of "default", I was just using all the of the information I had from my own interaction with this specific person. I certainly never sad it had anything to do with their singing voice. I take using preferred names and pronouns very seriously and without questioning, and I do everything I can to make the shows I go to safer and more inclusive spaces. I also totally get wanting to get this information out there to everyone reading, but it's really hard to not feel called out and singled out when you say such specific things without even leaving me time to apologize. I DO try not to assume anyone's gender, but in this case I made a very specific mistake, and I will correct it going forward.

Gotcha, I really appreciate you clarifying. I didn't notice any other posts mentioning their gender so since I had just commented I read your post as, "I'm not calling anyone out, but you're clearly the only one who I'm talking to," kind of sense. That's also why I thought it was harsh, because if it really was directed solely at my post then I didn't see how it could be plural/general, hence it bumming me out. I'm totally with you that waiting for information from the band/the person (or just anyone, not necessarily in a band) is the best option in most cases. And I can also see now why you may have seemed harsher than you meant to if what happened to Loone was on your mind. It sucks that someone did that loudly or intentionally. There's obviously always some grey areas that you get into with even the best intentions, but that sounds like they were just being jerks.

I knew virtually nothing about Loone prior to tonight. Their set moved me to tears on a few different occasions. Unbelievably powerful. The Hotelier was as good as it gets. Truly fantastic band. We're lucky to have them.

Maaaaan, Loone didn't play my date and now I'm really sad. I don't know anything about them either. :(

I did have a very similar experience with Bellows though. It had been a rough week and they were so peaceful I just almost cried.

I like Hotelier's material more but they are hands down the worst live band on this tour
