I haven't been able to pull off a trip to the theater to see this yet, but I am going to be watching this as soon as it is available to rent or buy or stream or whatever legal way people watch movies at home these days is.

Looks like Sony is submitting Leo as lead and Brad as supporting nomination consideration for awards seasons

Ideally we wouldn't talk about it at all, but October is definitely too early.

Hm. Django kind of drags already, especially in the latter third. Wonder if he alters the pacing and you feel it less.

Tarantino remains one of my favorite directors after seeing this as he does not disappoint. So many cool subtle things to notice throughout the film. I live in LA so to see a lot of familiar places transformed back into the '60s is really cool. I can totally see him getting a best director nom. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Leo nominated again too, always deeply enjoy his performances ("No one even knows who the fuck I am!") and while I found Brad Pitt charming as ever, I just don't see him getting any acting accolades here. So many things I liked about this film ('60s vibe totally worked for me) so I guess the main complaint for me is that there is no real cohesive narrative thread to connect it all together. What was the conflict and resolution exactly? Rick Dalton struggling to stay relevant? How does the climax tie in to that, and does that resolve the conflict? My guess would be the beginning of a newfound relationship between Rick and Sharon is that resolution.

While I agree in part I don’t think it required a solid resolution as such. Struggling in your job isn’t something that just goes away after you flamethrower a murderer haha. I thought it was a bit more honest than just being like AND THEY ALLLLL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER haha. Idk.

In fact I’m gonna say the violence was the resolution. All that built-up tension and then BAM that release.

Isn't Pitt like the favorite for supporting actor at the Oscars right now?
