A Change of Heart was one of the big reasons I got as excited as I did for ILIWYS. Such a great album. So was Self-Titled, Brief Inquiry, and the 4 eps. All good.

 

Am I doing the thread right if I love A Change of Heart but ILIWYS is my least favorite album by them?

 

the debut is still the best thing they've put out

I know exactly what that feels like - still don't connect to the music in the song itself (especially that supposed theremin sound)

Honestly though, I know people like to rank around these parts, but does anyone have a clear favorite song by this band?

 

ILIWYS takes the cake for me but ABI is a fantastic follow up. Self-titled is awesome but definitely my least favorite. I associate that album/era more so with just thinking how truly great they were gonna get.

I’m very excited for Notes.

 

ILIWYS is the best album ever made. I won’t entertain any other answers.

HMU with any of the EP jams - they’re leagues above anything else they’ve put out for me personally. They were the soundtrack to my dreadful uni years and they’ll always carry significantly more weight because of that. Plus Matty refers to them as ‘guitar’n’b’ and I think that’s a wonderful description.

 

If I Believe You, Somebody Else, & Petrichor are probably my favs

Sex, Me and fallingforyou are my clear top 3. After that it's like 15 songs from ILIWYS and ABI at the same time.

 

Honestly, maybe It’s Not Living or GYAT.

 

Pretty much same, except it’s more Me and fallingforyou are my top 2 and Sex is top 10

It's got the perfect build all the way to the end that sucks me in every time.

 

Late night drives through greater, suburban Detroit, to stuff like Menswear, Pressure, Me, Fallingforyou, etc., is how I’m always going to think about this band... just otherworldly vibes man.

 

Petrichor, If I Believe You, and ILIWYS are the holy trinity to me

These are not what I consider their "best" songs though, completely different metric
