By age 30: Have the equivalent of your annual salary saved, Greene says. If you earn $50,000 a year, aim to have $50,000 in savings when you hit 30.

to be candid, i make more than that a year and me and my wife's savings is nothing to be impressed with right now. annual salary does not equate to what you're able to set aside/should set aside at any given time. articles like that are wildly irresponsible, people are stressed with life and income enough why make someone read that they should have $30K in savings just because they crossed a salary threshold by a certain age?

most of those articles are BS. Everyone has a different situation. To say that when you reach X age you should have X amount of money is absolutely meaningless.

the average salary in Fresno is around $41k and I make around 30k and that’s only because I became full time around July.

Totally. I'd rather collect Funko POP dolls than put my money in a 401k.

My salary has increased a good amount recently, but that's meaningless because my fiance has an insane amount of student loan debt so I pay for everything between us and she just pays her loans. It's so insane.

    That's not a good idea.

It's a great idea. If you get a raise just buy more POP dolls. More = Better.

Wow these motherfuckers in my office got another AC remote and turned the AC on. WHAT THE FUCK it's 60 degrees outside.

I'm saying something once the weather dips below 60 degrees on average. This is insane.
