Damn that's awful. Just curious idk how that works but why are they saying "believed to be drunk"? Wouldn't they know right after a breathalyzer or is just because that information can't be released right away?

For reference, this is in response to him repeatedly supporting several abusers, one in particular being asia argento who was photographed in bed with a minor she had been grooming since childhood. I had personally approached him, very repsectfully wanting to have a discussion about alyship since the subject matter was something he and I had discussed face to face quite a few times over the years. I had even trusted him enough to open up to him about my own experiences with abuse, harrasment and a lot of other personal things pertaining to the subject. His initial response was to call me and other "shitty ignorant women" and accuse me of "making things about yourself" when the first respectful outreach was attempted. I've pretty much stayed quiet on the matter and haven't said anything to him since but some people, as you can see, still take issue to the way he chose to respond and treat survivors who trusted him enough to be open abou ttheir experiences with him because he posed himself as a safe space and an ally, this is his latest.

-edit: I blanked out the op even though the comments are still public.

It really bums me out that Matt is like that, spent a good chunk of my life listening to his music and this really makes me not want to anymore.

tbh im not yet ready to hate on whoever was driving that van like that until its revealed they were in fact impaired. regardless of whether they were driving drunk like a scumbag or it was just an accident it doesnt make the situation any less horrible.

In theory, but I think in this case the point is to pressure him into dropping the lawsuits.

Does that actually surprise anyone? The predator should have been removed from the band immediately and far more action should have been taken, but they essentially shrugged the entire situation off when it happened.

  14. Band with an unrepentant nonce deserve to have their career destroyed but that probably won't happen unless the fact he's a nonce is brought up repeatedly.

im so glad none of the bands i like have fans who do that windmill thing. i dont think its humanely possible for me to get drunk enough to want to do that shit.

i dont do pits much anymore, most shows i go to ppl are nice enough but being tall and skinny i have a weak center of gravity so get knocked around by pretty much every one. worst i ever got was getting dragged outside unconcsious from concussion so i give it a half honest effort to cut my losses.

Artists Performing at Amazon's Music Festival Say They Weren't Told It Was Hosted by Amazon
    • "Fallout over the roster of artists for the Intersect music and arts festival, which is being held in Las Vegas in December, surfaced this week after DJ and producer The Black Madonna said in a series of Thursday tweets that she was “furious” that she was listed alongside artists playing the event, writing that she “absolutely didn’t agree to this” and “What. The. Fucking Fuck.”
I want to support artists who would refuse to play at an Amazon sponsored festival, but all the coverage I've seen on this so far haven't answered a couple questions I think would be relevant:

    1) If these artists don't think it's their job to proactively ask about who is sponsoring or involved in a major way with the events they play at, whose job is it to do that?

I know this must be part of some managers' or publicists' job, but if these professionals know their artists and their preferences why didn't any artists representatives catch this before now?

I think it's likely that some did know about it and they didn't think they had a responsibility tell their colleagues about it despite the criticism and bad PR it would bring an event they wanted to have their artist associated with. The artists booked to play this festival run all the way up to the Foo Fighters.

It shouldn't be too difficult for even the least experienced music journalist to try to contact the artists' managers to find who knew and/or what they thought about this (or, if they have no comment) and in any case report on their responses. I just don't think most people who could have known wanted to ask about something like this, and those who knew didn't want to tell anyone who might object about it. Since nothing has happened to change their minds (like no one is even vaguely calling them on it) there's no reason to believe this won't continue.

Kinda don't ask, don't tell. I mean I suppose the same argument could be made for an artist refusing to play an AEG-connected event for political reasons, but that doesn't stop anybody I know who could be booked to play Coachella.

(Edit: the following story quoted someone saying some third-party was putting on the concert and none of the artists knew Amazon was a sponsor. I still have to think it must have been someone's job with every artist to know about or be asking about this sort of thing even if didn't happen to be mentioned in their contract or other material they received on this show. There are a LOT of big names involved in this festival. Was it no one's job with any of these bands to look out for this sort of thing?: The Black Madonna Released From Amazon’s Music Festival After Tweeting Outrage )

    2) if a band has such strong convictions as to publicly back out of playing a concert like this because it's sponsored by an offensive corporation like Amazon, why couldn't it be in their standard contract so that booking agencies and potential clients would know that upfront? Or that they don't want their music sold on or streamed by Amazon? I know, probably the same reason why I suppose few if any bands have in their contracts that they won't play an AEG venue or booked event.

But hey above all this why don't fans know more about bands' and other music scene entities' contracts then they do which is next to nothing? Or maybe a better way of putting this is why don't we even ask?

    tl,dr:

    "What. The. Fucking Fuck.”

there’s likely some nefarious tech bro behind every major festival, fuck Amazon but I don’t imagine this is really that much worse then the rest of the fests on the circuit
