I think all these trailer based think pieces are silly and I do think this looks great, but I also do think that taking the singing out of it is a little odd.

Also I loved Mushu but that I understand.

 

Personally think it would be really weird if there was singing in this

 

Yeah I guess that's true. What I mean is, they seem to have made a Mulan film that would be weird with singing, rather than "remaking" their Mulan film that was great with singing. I found that an odd move because they did not do that with Aladdin or Beauty and the Beast. I just did not expect it is all.

 

They want that sweet, sweet Chinese box office money and they weren't going to get it with a direct remake. That's really the only reason they took this more realistic route here.

 

Whatever the reason, we are benefiting from it.
A live action retelling of the original ballad with a Hollywood budget excites me more than a live action version of the animated film.

 

Liu Yifei’s quote reads as “I support the Hong Kong police. You can hit me now” in response to the police brutality. Unfortunately not surprising as Chinese actors never stand up against who funds their wallet.

That first trailer looks so good. I really hope this is good.

I really want to enjoy this movie but every time I see Yifei’s face I just see a CCP slave. It’s going to take me out of film due to her actually portraying a heroic character with a spine.

 

Looking forward to my girlfriend shitting on this for not having the songs she loved as a kid. lol

The music and cinematography both seem pretty good.

 

The line about making men out of them was some clunky fan service I could've done w/out, but otherwise, still looks good.

 

Looks great. Loved that shot of those guys jumping off the horses.
