It's nobody's battle but your own. Prestigious

I have At the Bottom (Live in Studio) at the end of Daisy.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Brand New at Madison Square Garden tonight...feels their entire career has led up to this. Here I am at the December 8th, 2006 show almost 10 years ago when they opened for Dashboard Confessional at Madison Square Garden. Was in 11th grade.

The pointy finger pose. I still do this, and I'll be 27 on Monday.

I'm sure it's going to be an awesome show!

Yeah, I don't want to talk about how this show ended for me haha. It was not pretty.

There's a guitar tone, maybe piano, in the last 90 seconds or so of Missing You... I just love it. My brain hones in on the sound.

It lays in the back bottom corner of my right ear, and it reminds me why a good mix is essential to a good song.

I don't hate it either. I quite like IAAN, but I definitely understand the reaction to the mix. Although I jammed and enjoyed Mene for over a year before I realized people were complaining about the mix on that one.

20th Brand New show tonight. At Madison Square Garden. GA Floor tickets. To say I am excited would be the understatement of the year.

    Newbie

It really is - the mix on "Missing You" is so good it almost made my head explode the first time I listened with headphones. The way those guitars chop and swell and spin around your whole head is just awesome.

Jesse's vocals & harmonies are also on-point here, and has always been one of my favorite aspects of BN's sound. There's usually at least 3-4 different layers of harmonies working on a single track and they all blend so damn well. (Manchester does a great job with this as well).

Bravo on all 3 of these tracks...10 years was worth the wait.

I only realized that people were complaining about "Mene" yesterday. I like IAAN a lot – it's not the direction I would have anticipated BN going, but I think it's a damn fine power pop song – and while the mix doesn't do anything to elevate it, like the mix on these reworked demos does, it also doesn't detract from it for me.

I don't have a problem with the yipp ratti recording style as much as others... There is a reason why bands keep going back to these guys.. I think they capture a more raw live sound

Personally, production typically only elevates a songs impact, and very rarely detracts from it.

    There are exceptions, obviously (Cope)

I love the Daisy intro/outro. It plays into a theme of the record, which is the old-timey-vintage feel of it. It's probably the same reason why In A Jar has that "radio show-esque" sample right before its first chorus, At The Bottom is from the perspective of an old man near death, and the title track has the adult/child contrast.

Another theme from Daisy is the battle between the loud chaos and the quiet anxiousness. Vices into Bed is a perfect way to introduce the listener into the unsettling vibes of the record right off the bat.

I'm of the opinion that Nobody Moves/Limousine/You Won't Know is their power trio, but that's not saying much as I can count a bunch of other songs from them that follow closely behind.
