What are your qualifications to work at Hot Topic?
I'm emo af

 

They moved into pop culture at the perfect time and realized that the way they used to be when I was going to them at 15 was not going to work if they didn't innovate. For years in my twenties I would go in there and be like wow all garbage, but once they were like lol people love Strangers Things and anime it seems like it's working better for them.

 

Hot Topic will outlive us all lmao

 

I read somewhere that eating burnt ends is worse for you than smoking a whole pack of cigs

 

I guess if you do both they cancel each other out, right?

 

There's a guy that works at the Hot Topic in Smithhaven that dresses like a pirate and is in a pirate cover band, I honestly commend his commitment to pirate life

 

This new Caroline Polachek album is incredible

It's easy to say that an emo goth store at the mall is for posers but they helped people feel seen

 

they also helped people feel scene

I'l also say that Newbury Comics, where I worked before I got this job, also did the same - started with comics and music but realized they had to move into pop culture to stay relevant. Kinda makes me sad to think that music sales aren't enough but more people came into NC wanting to buy Star Wars and GoT tshirts than wanted to buy records.

I casually picked up a Vheissu pressing at a Hot Topic once back in like 2012

of course now I burned it

 

man i lived in that store from like 2004-2008 lol my entire wardrobe was band shirts and studded belts

i love newbury comics - i was so psyched when it opened in smithhaven bc visiting the shop in boston was a must every time i went up there

Most of my jeans are from Hot Topic because they fit me the best. Rue21 comes pretty close though

 

I had tripp pants skinny jeans in every color

It kind of ruled

 

HT jeans were so comfortable. since i've.......cultivated mass......in recent years, i haven't been really able to shop there anymore lol
