He kinda showed we can do better at CB1 but he's solid for rotation. Does a good job against most receivers but gets flustered against WR1s. I like his size and ability to play the jump ball, but he doesn't seem to have the sudden change of direction to stop more agile wideouts who specialize in separating from press coverage at the catch point.

Having Prince Amukamara and Jalen Ramsey to deal with the faster receivers should be a huge improvement with Davon House still around to go up against those Malcolm Floyd/Mike Evans kind of back shoulder mismatch receivers.

 

He always reminded me of Al Harris, who happens to be my favorite player of all-time. But, just like Al, he's better suited for the old bump and run game that has been legislated into oblivion. He's good, but he gets tripped up so much with the agile guys, yeah.

 

Why bother with the supplemental draft? I never understood it. Why not just have those players be UDFA instead?

Because otherwise a junior, unsure of if he'll be a 1st Rd pick or drop to later rounds, might wait to enter the league until July. When a bidding war could be had for his services. And upon seeing that, other players would say "fuck being a 4th round pick" and try the same. Or worse, teams will tell players "dont enter the draft and we'll pay you X amount come July".

Really the only logical way to ensure teams/players dont game the system

 

Plus then you have la'el collins going to the Cowboys (who didn't even need him because they were so good and basically got a free 1st round pick) and getting a wink wink from Jerry jones so...

That's not how that situation happened at all.

He, unfairly, dropped because he was involved in that murder case that had nothing to do with it, said that he wouldn't play if he wasn't drafted high enough, and then was an UDFA. And then the Cowboys made the best case and he chose us.

 

No, his agent told teams not to bother if they picked him after the 3rd round. He went to the Cowboys because it was an easy situation to make $ on his next deal with an already good line. Pretty sure his favorite team was the Cowboys too, stop. Clearly bias was involved and there is bias in your idea of how it went. "He chose us" lol

 

Whether it was a direct quote from him or his agent, we're saying the same thing about if he didn't get drafted high. And yeah, coming to our team was the easiest way to join an already elite offensive line. And yes, he did choose us. There's only so much you can give an UDFA, and clearly every team in the league would be interested in him, so he could have went anywhere. And he chose Dallas.

It always amazes me, as insane as some of the rules seem, how much logic is there. And so often, the rule is there cause some dickhead owner tried it 30-40 years ago.

NFL Owners meetings basically have to be those guys trying to figure out what rule to pass that keeps the owner they dislike from finding a loophole

And walked away.
