555 is really my fav thing on here by mile.

 

definitely, this does have a more back to basics feel in its songwriting as opposed to the more sonic exploration that took place on IB, exactly like clarity and BA.

 

if the synth in 555 didnt sound like a garageband pre set i would like it more

 

im a sucker for closing tracks that get super high energy real quick for the last few seconds. i know theres more but off the top of my head all i can think of is turn off the lights im watching back to the future pt. 2 by dance gavin dance.

 

Bridge melody of Diamond definitely reminds me of MCS

I think I agree on all this. Only on the first listen really (listened last night and just started it again this morning). I feel like some of the songs end rather abruptly. They feel like they need a bit more time to breathe.
Also agreed on the guitars. Im no expert, but they do sound compressed quite a bit. Very crunch and kind of dry. no reverb at all. i noticed that on the Jimmy Kimmel performance so maybe thats just the sound theyre going for.

2nd listen, I like it more for sure.

Surviving - doesnt feel like a "real" song. its basically a banging intro as there isnt a traditional verse-chorus structure
Criminal Energy - i dig it more than i did on Kimmel. good live song and some heavy guitar parts,.
Delivery is really good as well, really nice vibes through this song, but this song feels rushed to me.
555 is great no doubt.
One mil - i dont see why people arent liking this song... the chorus is catchy as hell.

getting thru the 2nd half of the album now. Diamond might be my least favorite. Im not really getting the appeal of Congratulations as a closer so far but we'll see

 

Also the first time since that pair where they stuck with the same producer for two albums in a row.

I agree with your thoughts completely on Surviving, Criminal Energy, Delivery, 555, and Diamond.

 

I’m gonna hold off listening more because for some reason when I play it off my phone there’s some glitch where the last like 5 seconds of the song repeat the ending of each song

Super annoying and random

But initial impressions are that I’m v pleased by this thing

 

not all songs have to be structured verse-chorus-verse to be considered "real"

 

I still don't even see or know where you savages are finding the album.

Orange was ruined for me by my best friend's dad....who had painted his exercise room entirely orange bc well, "orange is the color determination, energy, and success". It made me nauseous standing in the orange room lol.
