It's a movie I've vacillated on, not sure if I think it's melodramatic

i agree with you, it was certainly far-fetched (i just cannot imagine that playing out like it did in real life at all) but i still liked it. i was iffy about the flashbacks at first, but they worked for me overall and i liked that aspect of will and eden's relationship. i thought the ending was neat, too.

  4. I remember being heckled out of the Last Film You Saw Review thread on AP for giving one of the VHS movies a 7.5 or something, lol. I don't care. I have an interest in anthology films but those in particular are creepy and fun.

first one holds a special place in my heart because i watched it alone in my parent's basement late at night and the very first short absolutely terrified me. i really like 1 and 2 but did not care for viral.

I've only seen the first two but I like both a lot. There's a really frightening atmosphere to both of them

I only made it a few minutes into the first one. I don't remember it but I remember something grossing me out and not in a good way early on so I shut it off

Green Room was phenomenal. Even better than my already super high expectations. I definitely expected to come away thinking Stewart was the best part but I think Imogen and Anton as the "victim team" were absolutely top notch.

Top 3 horror movies of the year at this point for me are
    1. Green Room
    2. Invitation
    3. Hush

And that would be the same as my overall favorites of the year if it wasn't for Popstar.

The Invitation was pretty great. Very effective at showing the dangers/fears of what a cult can be. I feel like this was the kind of message The Sacrament wanted to say, but couldn't articulate. This may end ranking quite highly for me at the end of the year.

Edited to add spoiler tags. I think the less you know about the film the better and I'm sure others still haven't gotten around to it yet.

I'm going to have to watch The Invitation. I read the spoiler tags but I don't think that'll ruin my enjoyment of the film, it's not a big secret, is it? Seems like something you could figure out from a trailer or the first thirty minutes. Unless it's like The Kill List, where you just completely mind blown at the end.

Anyways, other movies I've enjoyed in this order: The Witch, Green Room, Hush, The Shallows, The Conjuring 2, 10 Cloverfield Lane. I am really looking forward to Lights Out, Don't Breathe, The Woods, etc.

Na, not a big spoiler. You figure it out pretty quick. But I figured I'd play it safe anyway. I didn't gather that info from the trailer tho. Maybe I just saw the wrong one.

Don't Breath and The Woods have become my most anticipated movies coming out the rest of the year. 31 and Lights Out have been catching up for me tho.

    are we having fun yet?

i think they're really killing Lights Out by showing the trailer before every movie in the last 4 months... i'm already sick of seeing the trailer, and it's making me less interested. but it's got James Wan attached, so i'm optimistic.

The as-yet-untitled movie, referred to by many as “Saw: Legacy,” is set to arrive Oct. 27, 2017, with directors Michael and Peter Spierig (“Daybreakers,” “Predestination”) behind the camera. It’s still not known whether this project will be a sequel to 2010’s “Saw 3D” or a reboot of the franchise.

  19. ^Interesting choice for directors. There was a lot to like in Daybreakers even if it didn't fully come together, and Predestination is pretty great imo. Curious to see how their style translates into a Saw movie.

  20. Hopefully something that focuses less on the gore and more on the crime/story and twists, like the first film.

I watched Southbound last night. Nice to see a well made anthology film (Tales of Halloween and Holidays weren't very good).

I agree. Also, the sound mix on the trailer really makes it stand out as one of the, "hardest," horror movie trailers I've seen in recent years. I've seen the trailer around 4 times in theaters and the crowd response has been fantastic.

The Strangers really seemed to slip under the radar considering how solid it was. Liv and Speedman were great, imo.
