Watched Waxwork last night which isn't most even comedy horror film but with a really good cast, inventive premise, some cracking gore and solid practical effects is was hardly boring just wish it was funnier.

Finally had the chance to revisit The Changeling after buying it on Blu-ray a while ago and enjoyed it even more second time around. Neatly mixing different approaches to doing a horror film with the likes of a haunted house, murder mystery and psychological being thrown together to make one hell of an atmospheric film that manages to make something as innocent as a child's play ball creepy. Also features George C. Scott in the lead role and as we know he can lead a horror film really well as evidenced by The Exorcist III and though it probably looks a little old school considering all the slasher films that were around at the time, that brings a certain charm to it that it isn't relying on violence to be an engrossing and enjoyable film.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I think the first half of this movie is an absolute masterwork - that tracking shot up to the attic is one of the scariest things ever! the second half kind of stops being a horror and it's a bummer, but still good

Damn that's unfortunate. Really love the build up in that film.

Yeah idk, it wasn’t catching me. Felt like silly jump scares and weird dialogue. Is the second half of the movie drastically different? I stopped at like an hour or so in.

I worked from home yesterday so I was able to watch the Dawn of the Dead remake, Land of the Dead, and the original Tremors.

I had never seen Land of the Dead before because i thought it looked dumb, but some people on reddit were praising it so i checked it out. I personally hated it. The zombie communicating with the other zombies and using weapons was so dumb.

On a positive note, my girlfriend and i are going to see Alien in theaters tonight for the 40th anniversary. Super excited about that

Second half is definitely stronger. I wouldn't say too different though.

I refute that criticism because getting chased by a child's wheelchair would be scary as fuck haha.

Such a solid run of stories. Seasons 2 and 3 are both great also. Watching this season of AHS has really made Channel Zero's cancellation all that more upsetting.

Watching the original Friday the 13th for the first time. Kevin Bacon’s death made me cringe, just as strong as a reaction whenever I see Achilles heel slicing.

It’s a pretty creative way how they made that happen. Savini doesn’t mention it here but he was under the bed blowing the fake blood through a tube and that’s why it spurts out that way

Check your local theater! It played Sunday, tonight, and it’s playing tomorrow in a bunch of theaters

My girlfriend hated it but I thought it was awesome. The scene inside the ship when he finds the eggs was breath taking

Seeing Alien in theatres tonight! cannot wait!

    my weekend catch up:

This weekend I watched Evil Dead II again, still so fun, not sure whether or not I prefer this or the original now that I've seen both. definitely want to watch the remake soon, I hear good things. also watched Army of Darkness, first time, loved it. pretty sure I've caught parts of it on tv before but now definitely seen the whole thing.

Then I watched A Girl Who Walks Alone At Night. wow, what a special film. definitely want to watch it again. good lord every shot is a work of art.

Also watched the original Amityville Horror. not sure how long it's been since I've watched this one, but damn it still holds up!

And lastly yesterday I finished Eli Roth's History of Horror, really enjoyed the whole thing. Going to dive into some more horror docs soon, so happy to take recommendations. I have Shudder, Netflix, Prime, Hulu, and HBO if that helps.
