How does this compare to Dopamine? Better worse or about the same?

I’m glad to hear this isn’t awful, I was slightly worried it’d be forgettable.

Imo it's pretty similar to Dopamine

3EB hasn't released a bad album. Not sure why anyone is worried.

With that being said -- starting Screamer.

"take a side" is NOT their worst closer, it's pretty tight. wonderful album

Six songs in and digging it so far. Cautiously awaiting 2X Tigers based on the comments haha

So I like a lot, dislike a little, but don’t love anything. I’d say 7/11 with maybe 2-3 standout-ish songs, but nothing I’d pick over most of their other stuff. Light It Up, Screamer, Who Am I are my faves for now?

Pretty much my exact take on it based on first listen.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

this is still a banger honestly. early Live slams

he thought it would scare off the shapeshifters

    Hmmmm

I got through the first 5 tracks and was about to say the rumours of the demise were exaggerated... and then the second half of the album happened

Tropic Scorpio is indeed excellent, and then the last 6 or 7 songs blur into this poppy mash of mediocrity

Why the hell are all these songs so short? Not much here feels fleshed out or particularly well executed in a studio sense. There’s still strong writing here, but it’s bogged down by this samesy vibe that didn’t always plague this band but pretty much has since sometime around the middle of Ursa Major

There are enough great songs between this and We Are Drugs to make one solid album, but Stephen really needs to drop the ego and let someone else in the band audit his ideas, because there’s simply not a lot here that can be expected to hold a longtime fan’s interest or even attract new ones

    It is incredibly samesy

i think the album is incredibly strong and varied from "tropic scorpio" -> "light it up." how are y'all including "turn me on" and "got so high" in this supposedly "samesy" run?

Compared to their others, it's definitely bottom tier.

First 6-7 songs are good then it still drops off a steep edge for me.
