Tattoed folks, advice. The artist for my second tattoo from last night used saniderm or whatever to cover my tattoo instead of this black medical looking wrapping applied with medical tape my first tattooer did. Well it just came off as it wasn't much bigger than the tat itself and the ink/plasma kept it from staying on. Do I need to go find another saniderm somewhere or am I fine to just begin what I did to care for my other tat after I took that wrapping off?

Might be silly, but I am still new at this lol.

since you just got it yesterday I’d say you’re good to go get some tegaderm and apply it but I wouldn’t wait beyond today. Or you can let it heal just like normal it’ll just take longer

how long did they tell you to keep it on? all my tattoos, ive slept with the wrap on and the next morning removed and washed it and kept applying the ointment as needed/directed - if you got it last night and it just came off now, i don't think you'd need to re-apply protection, but by all means it's your investment, but i don't think you'd do harm by leaving it off at this point.

 

Acquiring more tegaderm would be a pain in the ass and just want to make sure I'm not fucking up my tattoo from moving on to just lotion and letting it breathe from now until whenever.

PG&E kept pushing off turning power off in my county and then said this morning they had at some point and if you still have power, you're golden. So, I'm in the clear at least. It's not obvious how many people are power-less atm.

This artist said keep on 2 days, but it certainly didn't last 24 hours lol. They didn't give me any extra pieces, so I'd rather just let it breathe and add ointment like I did with the other one that's healing just fine.

My first tattoo, from less than two weeks ago lol, didn't get this tegaderm covering and I just slept on it and then removed in the morning and washed and it's been good. Actually saw the artist who did my first and she was pretty psyched with how it looked.
