I was originally bummed to see that this album only has 10 songs on it but the more I think about it, the more appealing it is to me. Lover definitely comes to mind as a recent album that needed to be way, way shorter.

 

Well it's not really just the low # of songs on the album that bums/concerns me, but the length of the songs. Only 2 songs above the standard 4 minutes (one of which we've all already heard). Almost all of these songs are just above 3 minutes. Problem with 'Love Never' for me is that it just doesn't feel like a complete song. Like it needs a chorus, and the actual chorus should be a pre-chorus. That song would be so much better if that 2:54 was more like 3:45. Same with last album's 'Through'. Great song but feels short of complete at 2:51.

 

Through is perfect

 

This seems like a very silly argument. LOL. The album feels great at 39 minutes or whatever it is.

 

Chase This Light only had three songs over four minutes. I don't think a single song on that album feels incomplete.

 

The most important thing is for an album to feel right. Totally agree.

If I’m not listening to a specific made playlist I have, I usually listen to music by era. So staying with Chase This Light, I listen to the whole album, and b-sides/covers/alt versions. That’s 17 songs and I’m fine with that.

I’m ok surviving being 10 songs. After waiting 3 years, I would have been happy for it to be 11 or 12, or maybe they have a b side or remixed half heart.

 

There could still be b-sides though. We don't know that at this point. I don't remember hearing the Chase b-sides for at least a few months after that record came out.

 

wait, are we really judging songs off of their length alone? through is indeed perfect.

 

Has there been a single? I'm sure there has... holding off until full release... they haven't done anything worthwhile to return to (for me, personally) since 2007.

 

If there’s anyone I trust to give me a long album with no filler, it’s JEW, but I am very very here for something shorter and cohesive.

My only possible beef with this album is that Love Never should’ve been a B-side. It came out a year before the album and IMO its not top notch JEW.

But whatever I’ve got 9 other new songs to be stoked about

 

If the album leaks today we know who to blame. Don't put your trust in Jesse to abide by the rules.

It's pretty short. Surely below average and the shortest album by the band I'm pretty sure (unless their debut is shorter I can't remember). It's 2 minutes shorter than damage.

 

They did 5 songs at the Kimmel show apparently. Wonder what they were.

 

through has two verses a bridge and three choruses what more does a pop rock banger need

 

Don't know but I want to hear all of them.

For me this is heaven

Presumably they did one on air song and it'll either be something new or love never

 

I'm surprised All the Way (Stay) wasn't the on air song but now I'm intrigued.
