Yanks in 3 was easily the best bet of the playoffs. I'm sorry. Until I see otherwise. Twins or A's vs yanks.... they fold. They dont compete. Feel bad for them but come on guys.

....in the playoffs. The A's at least try, I'll give em that, but the twins are miserable

    Prestigious Prestigious

We have a pretty below average rotation/bullpen, aside from berrios/odo. Pretty certain the only player with playoff experience is marwin. Sure we didn’t play our best games, but saying we are “miserable” is laughable.

The yanks? I mean theres nothing more to say. They embarrassed the team they always embarrass. Gonna need more than Jake odorizzi

    Against the yanks? Miserable.

they won 101 games. they have more than just Odorizzi.

they put up more WAR in pitching this season than NYY, and NYY were only 1% better in wRC+.

NYY won both series 2-1 in regular season.

you can't go off of reputation. this MIN team can play. NYY played a great series and beat a quality opponent.

Until I see it, I'm sorry I just wont believe it. I do think reputation and history play a part, especially when it's so dramatic. This yankee dominance over Minnesota is dramatic.

    They need real pitching.

You call it ignorance I call it easy money. The only way you're going to beat the yanks is to limit their offense and the twins pitching isn't good enough to do that.

You're not gonna see 100 win teams be that dramatic underdog very often.

But look you won 100 games, I'm sure you'll be back next year. And hey I wanted the twins to win it all. They were the team I wanted to win the most, but they gotta figure out how to beat the yankees

last thing I will say... Twins were top 5 both in FIP and xFIP

asking for more than that is silly.

I'm not being flippant here. Everyone plays shit teams. But is there a way to see how they did, pitching wise, against teams over .500? I dont know the answer to that

  17. v sports radio in here rn

  18. T.J.

    music and baseball.

i really so no point to this exercise. if you do that, you're eliminating good offense's that happen to have shit pitching, which is the reason they are under .500. its not answering the question you are seeking.

if you can't trust a sample size of 1,500 IP against MLB competition, i don't know what to tell you.

I'm very familiar with NY's dominance against Min and still didn't want to face this particular year's team

Effectively Wild today talked about the feeling so far that the balls seem less juiced/not flying as far this postseason. And that apparently the home run rate is down like 15% from the regular season. It could definitely be small sample size but there is some anecdotal evidence to support the idea: Acuña not hustling on the ball off the wall that he thought was gone, as well as Goldy’s wallscraper that looked like a moonshot off the bat.

Of course, those are supremely anecdotal, however, it’ll be interested to see how the rest of the postseason plays out. I feel so conditioned to expect every ball hit somewhat well to the outfield to fly out of the park yet that hasn’t been the case thus far on some balls that look well struck
