    BIG FACTS.

Mammoth, Born To Lose, Forever Decay, and Untidaled are all top tier TDWP songs and among some of my all-time favorite tracks from both the band and overall genre. Really glad I decided against selling my limited edition signed vinyl a few years back.

    Possible hot take:

In Heart is super underrated and a fantastic closer. Probably my favorite closer in their discography? Jeremy sounds great and that scream at the 1:39 mark? Come onnnnn.

The title track from Transit Blues is a very close second.

  3. I still enjoy those early albums, but Roots and Zombie are my favorite releases from them by far. I haven't given the more recent albums enough spins probably.

i think i'll share my thoughts more when the record is out but i think more than anything this record really shows jeremy's versatility and range and the kind of glue for the band's stuff. feel like in a lot of ways it's the album i wanted to hear from them for a while, gets really weird in cool ways and the heavy parts matter more

reading this thread is such a gosh darn tease rn

  7. This is the only pre-Zombie song I appreciate. It kinds of works as a precursor of what they would do on the second phase of their career.

I still jam to their earlier stuff lol, it's just fun loud stuff for me basically

Dead Throne is probably my favorite still but I love the transition they've made to their sound now

So I kind of put together 13 songs into a "Greatest Hits" album of sorts. They're not all necessarily hits, but the songs I'd show somebody to get a feel for the band. I left any of the Act singles off, but it could definitely expand to fit a couple more. I love the idea of Evergreen closing an album with the outro that song has.

  10. With Roots Above is the beginning of the band's good streak - seriously one of the most under appreciated metal bands today.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

Use of synthesizers and keys were such an absolute gimmick for many bands back then. What struck me most about WTAABB was they used theirs to strengthen and pace their music - not as a cheap trick, and that helped set them apart. Zombies was the summit of James on keys, still bummed out he's not with them now.

Example - chorus in Danger: Wildman

"The Thread" owns the punchiest album chorus, proper banger

Man it's so awesome that Mike's low growls are back in absolute fashion after their total absence on the last LP, that was my biggest complaint with Transit Blues.

Listening now. Vinyl won't be ready for at least two weeks which is a bummer.

I'm so impressed with everything I've heard so far. I don't think they've delivered vocally like this at any point before.

Having total deja vu right now.

I got VIP tickets for their With Roots Above and Branches Below 10th anniversary tour last year. It was supposed to come out with this special limited edition anniversary vinyl that you can only get via this VIP package. It was going to be ready for pick up at the meet and greet but it got delayed. It was the main reason I bought VIP tickets too.

Fucking two months after the show and emailing the responsible party for it twice - they finally said mine must have gotten lost and that they would ship me a new copy. They were definitely full of shit. I get it in the mail finally but it’s in pretty lousy shape and it looks bare bones. It has this gigantic cover on it and looks like it’s missing something that’s supposed to go inside with it? Like a lyric sheet? I don’t know.

A week after getting it - I saw that they ended up having leftovers of this “limited edition” variant anyways so it was put up for sale online.

I was pretty let down by the whole experience. I really hope my vinyl comes before or by the 25th cause I would love for the band to sign it cause I got the VIP tix again for this tour they’re doing with Norma Jean lol

I've never dipped my toes into any VIP experience, but sounds like everything that could go wrong absolutely did and that sucks. I ended up finding the standard version of the LP at my local record store and it was a really pretty swirl version. I need to get my ticket for this tour! My date is a little more than two weeks away.
