The talk of the Brendan Fraiser Mummy movies the other day got me itching to watch them and I just found 1-3 on Blu-ray at Walmart for $5. There goes my day.

Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was so disappointing - like spider-man 3 level of disappointment. I remember when the trailers came out being so excited because it looked like they were going to be able to recapture some of that magic from the first two, even without Rachel Weisz returning.

Watched TTCM last night and I just cannot get over how each and every time I see this movie, it is a unique and unsettling experience. There are so many moments that remain just as creepy and raw and weird today and it rivals whatever is being made currently. What Hooper and Henkel achieved with this film will probably not ever be matched ever again. Sorry i’m gushing here cause it’s so fresh but damn what a one of a kind movie.

It is gorgeous. There are so many perfect shots in the movie! When they pick the hitchhiker up and it’s just the whole landscape horizon in frame with the van on the bottom right good lord

Besides the obvious ones what are some recommendations for movies that actually take place on Halloween?

I remember playing a show at a bar here in Portland and they had TTCM silently playing on a loop on the TVs behind the bar. It ruled

Assuming you’re counting Trick R Treat as an obvious one but if not, that

  18. I've been really indecisive lately so I've fallen behind. I'm saving up rewatching stuff like A Quiet Place, Annihilation, and Train to Busan for later in the month, so right now I'm just, idk

edit: apparently I don't have Cabin in the Woods on DVD. wtf.

How is the tales of Halloween?

Another rewatch in the form of the superb The Invisible Man which is not only one of my favourites from the pre-code era but undoubtedly the oldest film I will probably see for this Halloween season that has superb special effects for a near nine-decade old film, Claude Rains is great in the lead role and though I wouldn't call it scary it is nonetheless a fun experience.

  21. General consensus is that 2 is okay (I thought it was rough) and 3 is pretty bad.
    WNUF Halloween Special!

Watched this for the first time a couple weeks ago, holds up VERY well. I loved how a lot of the kills were portrayed in such a lighthearted way!

Agreed plus people rave about how many the likes of Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees have killed in their respective series whereas the Invisible Man kills more than a hundred people in just one film.
