Bray should absolutely destroy Seth and then just leave. Like, doesn't go for a pin, doesn't try to win the match, just thoroughly destroy him and then walk out of the building. Play more weird mind games. The Fiend doesn't need a title right now. Honestly, a title only hampers the entire character.

It was with Fox that UFC previously had a deal with before ESPN, right? So the Fox folks were probably stoked by the idea of Cain.

I had no idea who he was aside from looking like a pudgy bald dude who for some reason intimidated Brock.

    Knowing Vince

Fox said they wanted a major Brock mma feud and Vince himself insisted it needed the wwe title and couldn't be talked out of it.

  5. yep.

Cain also fought on the very first UFC FOX card as well.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Which if it’s what fox wants. Okay sure. But the whole rollout of it was absolutely awful.

  7. Yup - they’ll have no one to rely on in 10 years for big pops

  8. I just love that SDL/WWE threw away all their newer talent to showcase a decade old UFC feud between two barely part timers

That backstage segment with Erin Andrews proves that Kofi/New Day as a whole are the type of acts that you should be establishing on this first episode and building as your stars. I don't think anyone who actually watches MMA and knows who Cain is would be all that interested in him vs Brock in a WWE ring (or interested in Cain in a WWE ring at all—most MMA fans I know didn't seem to tune in at all to see Ronda in WWE)

exactly. You’ve been trotting Kofi on TV all week doing promotional stuff. Only for him to not get a single move in. Like, that looks genuinely awful.

    man, I'm pretty Prestigious

I think it's more that they've been building Kofi up for the last EIGHT MONTHS, having him beat guys like Bryan, Joe & Orton. And then he gets killed in 3 seconds by the same part-time guy that's been bouncing around title matches since 2013. Why should anybody care about the product lol

  12. When WWE goes under it’ll be because of this and not because of some other promotion

Who just got beat by Seth, too...

  15. It’s almost like WWE was so concerned with AEW this week that they forgot they had a PPV this weekend

I’m starting to think that this move to Fox will ultimately hurt them more than it will help them. Obviously, they care more about the nostalgia acts. And they seem to worry more about how they’re going to get non-wrestling fans/new fans to watch rather than pleasing the current fans watching.

The main roster is a complete fucking joke at this point.

Haven’t watched the show yet, but the Kofi thing is indefensible. Does feel like a fox call, but who knows. No matter what it’s bad, and if it was a fox call, the network should absolutely not have that kind of say into the decision making. Cain is cool, and I’m fine with it being for the title, but my god, whoever thought that was a good idea deserves a good kick in the dick

  19. I wonder if/kinda hope fans hijack every Brock/Cain interaction with Kofi chants

reminds me of DB losing to Sheamus in 5 seconds and that kind of started the whole fan hijacking segments type thing

  20. We got 4 matches now!

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Didn't they actually put up a graphic that lined out the rules for the ladder match tonight? I'm pretty sure I heard that.

I'm not knocking AEW's show, I thought it was very entertaining. It felt like a show that they'd put on like 8 months in, very down to earth as you said. NXT was a mini takeover, so obviously the comparison will be easier over the coming weeks cause they can't just do little Takeover-quality events every week.
I kept telling my girlfriend that it's so surreal to be super excited for wrestling. NXT vs. AEW is going to be so fun. My lone concern is WWE making NXT more main-rostery, if that makes sense. I don't want it run like raw or smackdown, keep nxt different.

i have an extremely conservative bit of excitement for Cain because of that 20 seconds of AAA footage where he did lucha things. but hot damn, the dude lacks any charisma and nothing about him looked like a star.

overall SD is maybe the worst show of the week to me, but that crowd was exceptional
