It isn't an insult, either. They are designed to do different things. They are meant to be disposable products to put you in the moment. That is why there have been seven different actors portraying Batman since I was born.

I always use a comparison to fast food. There is nothing wrong with occasionally going to McDonald's or something like it. However, making that your exclusive diet is harmful to your health. Similarly, people who only watch those kind of films are robbing themselves of a better cultural diet of cinema. Adult audiences used to watch something like the early Batman films but also show up to Goodfellas. It has shifted in the wrong direction.

 

Kinda late to this convo but I hardly ever buy food at the theater. I don’t go much anymore but sometimes. Also went a lot during moviepass lol. But theater food is just too damn expensive. There’s a five below right next to the theater and it has basically any snack or candy you could want, and hella cheap, so we always go there first and stock up haha

 

I can't resist popcorn at the movies, but I used to waaay over do it. I used to be able to take down an entire large + refill. Attempted that during John Wick 3 this year and I ending up feeling terrible for a full day afterward.

 

Haha, there are people on twitter who are calling Scorcese and out of touch hack because of that comment. Did they think he was going to be a die-hard MCU fan or something?

lol. Yep the guys from Goodfellas are my childhood heroes. Thanks to Scorsese for introducing me to my personal idol, Henry Hill. Such a noble man.

 

Some Marvel fans just can’t compute that people can watch the movies and get absolutely nothing out of them.

Also most Marvel movies don't make sense unless you watch ten other movies which isn't really how movies work, Paddington 2 makes sense as a standalone

 

People thought Wolf of Wall Street was glorifying those people too. A lot of people don't understand satire unless it is explicitly spelled out.

 

It is also funny how all of those people are going to rush out and see the Joker movie, unaware of how similar it is to a Scorsese film (minus the superhero stuff for little kids).

Love a lot of Marvel movies and love most of Scorsese’s movies. Meh

 

What Scorsese was actually trying to say was that he wishes someone would make a theme park based on his movies for once. Where’s the Catholic guilt tilt-a-whirl, or 60s rock documentary log flume, or maybe like that sling shot ball ride but it’s launched by repressed male rage

Rewatched Black Swan. Not as good as The Wrestler, but I quite enjoyed it. I remember being underwhelmed by it.

Love Black Swan, the Wrestler is ok, definitely doesn't hold up as well, though.

 

I haven’t seen either in forever but I remember loving the wrestler and being indifferent towards black swan.

 

Love both. Black Swan does a little more for me though. Rewatched Mother recently and liked it even more the second time. Makes me want to try and finish Noah again lol.
