I'm at 47 for the year, compared to 56 last year and 60 in 2017 (my record). I'll probably end up beating it though, which I'm excited about!

Do you live in Toronto, btw?

 

Well now I want to share. I don't have concert archives but I do keep a google doc. I've been to 362 shows (I count each day of a festival as 1 show, including any aftershows). My list of artists is at 639, but I'm sure there's some things missing, especially openers and what not. The most I've been to in a year was 78 last year. I'm at 56 right now, but it's possible I break 80. Then... I really need to slow down next year lol

If you don’t want to divulge no worries but I’m curious why you got kicked out of the TSSF show at the Metro. I was at one of those two shows.

 

Forgot I had that comment, let's put it this way: I was in a party mood but also feeling cheap, so I smuggled some booze in but instead of using a flask like a smart person i just had like a pint of vodka which I left in my back pocket when I got in. Went to the bathroom and security saw me and was not a fan of that one. "Something.. something.. all ages show.. something something". Then I tried to convince them it was fine to let me back in if I just got another ticket off Stub Hub and they did not go for that either. Not my finest moment but I guess it's a story lol

 

Alcohol at Metro is overpriced in my opinion so I feel your struggle haha.

 

Seeing Chevelle in a couple weeks which will be a childhood dream come true

 

I’m just glad I at least saw Citizen and Turnover so it wasn’t a total waste, but ya haha I won’t be doing that again at the Metro

 

I'm at 92 shows for the year so far but will probably hit 125 by the end of the year. This was by far my biggest year though.

I write mine down. I'm at 111 on the year. My best is 125 in 2017. I possibly can top that by month's end.

 

Serious question, how do you all afford to go to 100+ concerts a year or even have enough time? That seems absolutely insane to me.

 

For me, it's because I got out of a long term relationship last year and have had lots of free time that I've just tried to fill. As far as affordability... most of the shows I go to, don't cost that much. Sure, I'll see a handful of big shows, but I go to lots of DIY and club shows that are like $10

 

If I lived in a major market I'd go to way more shows. I live in a very central part of Michigan, so it's about an hour drive pretty much everywhere, but it still adds another $20-30 of expenses every time I go to a show, in addition to a ticket and usually food.

 

Yeah, I listen to a lot of different stuff and living in Dallas, there's something I'm interested in just about every other night. Lots of times there are multiple shows in one night I want to see.

 

I go to a lot of smaller shows that run $7-$15. And I write for a few publications. So I get guest listed for shows. From time to time I also help out with a local booking company. :)
