Do cable networks still do the silly censored dubbing instead of muting explicit content? Would love to see something like that on the Scream movies.

2 episodes into Marianne on Netflix and it is awesome so far. Some really, really creepy images and writing.

Ah thanks for letting me know! They are bringing it to Netflix this month (I believe) so I should’ve just waited, but I’m running out of horror movies on Netflix.

A note about Marianne: I strongly recommend just doing subtitles instead of English dub. The woman playing Marianne is incredible and her vocal performance is worth hearing instead of the dub.

Oh good I was worried subtitles weren’t an option...never do dubs.

A horror movie a day would be too big of a commitment for me, but let's see how many horror movies I can get through in October. Kind of surprised at the number of horror DVDs I have:

    1408
    Afflicted
    Annihilation
    A Quiet Place
    Black Swan
    Cloverfield
    Drag Me to Hell
    Final Girl
    Get Out*
    Happy Death Day
    It*
    Shaun of the Dead*
    Train to Busan
    Us*
    Warm Bodies
    Zombieland*

*Might skip a few of these; I've seen them rather recently

(definitely skipping stuff like Se7en and Sleepy Hollow, because I don't wanna see certain people. Also skipping stuff that's more thriller, or disturbing but not scary, e.g. Zodiac, Nightcrawler, Requiem for a Dream (idk why I have that, I'm never watching it again))

My October goal is to watch at least one a day, gonna try for more if possible. Going to be difficult this year with a newborn but we will see how it goes!

Is anyone planning on seeing Alien when they put it back in theaters for the 40th anniversary?

After seeing the shining this way, I’m trying to catch any classic I can in theaters

Our cheap theater is doing Christine, Fright Night, Evil Dead II, and Halloween II this year so I’m stoked on that. We got Alien and The Exorcist last year. Planning on hitting The Shining Tuesday at Regal. DK if we’ll get Alien.

Finally got around to watching Halloween (2018). Loved nearly everything about it. Very excited for Halloween Kills next year.

Oh hell yeah! I’d be all over fright night, evil dead 2 and Halloween 2

Also, how do you find out about older movies playing? I only found out about the shining because someone here posted it and I saw the poster for alien

I think it’s just our local cheap theater because it’s not like a Regal or AMC. They typically do runs of special screenings and October usually brings out the spookies.

In 2016 I did the 366 Movie Challenge (watch as many movies as days in the year you haven’t seen before, it was a Leap Year). That was a chore. Involved a lot of mediocre movies on Netflix. I’ll never do that again.

I tried something like that last year. But after a while there just isn't anything that looks good enough to watch and I got discouraged. Maybe some day.

I'm in need of some horror recommendations that would be easy for someone not super into the genre. My wife is slowly getting into them but she isn't into anything supernatural or demons because she believes in those things too much.

I suggested that to her because she loves Spanish films, but she was not having it haha.

Got through all of Marianne. I genuinely think it had the scariest scenes I’d seen since I saw Hereditary in theaters. In particular the beginning of episode 2 with the phone call “I’m behind you in the corner” and lots of the mirror work/hands creeping around creaking doors.
I think the final moments kinda fell flat for me because it’s one of my absolute least favorite cliches that shows use to leave things open ended.

Like others, I might try a horror film a day during October but it would be impossible to limit myself to just that one genre throughout the month.
