I really wish they would've named the album Death Blood, that still cracks me up

 

Im sure I just lost some points, but I wasnt sure what band Tim was in - I was thinking Offspring.... Rancid.... Bad Religion....

I chanced on Offspring.

 

"Bored To Death" has entered the Hot 100 at #85. Curious to see how many weeks it will amass at the top of Alternative Songs. At least five seems a safe bet as of right now.

 

I wish the arpeggio effect from this BTD performance was on the record. Sounds Cure-y/reverb-y... and more like Untitled that way.

However, taking the song down a half step would change the mood of the song. BTD was this record's entry point so it needed to be as accessible as possible. A darker sound, via tuning down a half-step, would change that.

I bet they tried it out of curiosity. However, it's not like they didn't know ahead of time that Mark couldn't sing it live.

 

Wonder how long it will last on the hot 100. Would be nice to see it move further up!

 

Debate: My friend says of you listen, the lyrics to Cynical are about Mark's feelings about the last days on Blink with Tom and how he never called and just walked out, but he's continuing on. (moment of panic when I hear the phone ring anxiety calling in my head, are you back again? Is there the slightest trace of what you once believed what's the point of saying sorry now not sorry)

I say he's reading too much into it. But he vehemently insists that's the purpose. Opinions?

 

I'm sure Mark wouldn't give such a specific answer and people love saying every song is about Tom but It would make sense this time I think. It's not an outrageous theory anyway.

 

Cynical is most def. about Mark carrying on the blink torch without Tom. "There's a cynical feeling saying I should give up, I've said everything I'll ever say"

 

I Think the story talked about that Aerosmith was going to be the guest that night, but with Joe Perry collapsing, Blink came in to play. Perhaps they weren't ready? Or didnt finetune what they wanted to do?

 

Except they recorded their performance weeks ago

 

I'd be surprised if Cynical wasn't about Tom.

I'm not understanding. The collapsing didn't happen until the day before yesterday if I remember correctly, this performance has been recorded for nearly two week?

I think that line almost certainly relates to his creative self-doubt and writer's block he's spoken about a few times.

 

They likely had the performance recorded and ready for another date but when the Hollywood Vampires had to cancel they just used the blink footage to fill.

 

How often do these pre-recordings happen? I always assumed that all segments of late night shows are filmed the same day

 

I love that bass part Mark does into the outro. Wish it was more audible in the studio version.

 

They typically are filmed the same day with the rest of the show but if a band has a limited time window... they'll pre-record for later use. In blink's instance they likely couldn't get them on the show the day(s) they were in NYC, so they agreed to pre-record during another live taping.

 

It was confirmed San Diego was about him, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if a second song was

 

Yeah it definitely crossed my mind when I first heard it. I think it's a mix between Tom quitting and how some people/fans doubted blink could/would continue on.

So it's the 12th.... 11 days since release day, and were a bit over half to the start of the tour. Have to wonder though, album is released but not at the tour...

Are we half way gone or half way there??
