This is good stuff.

 

I haven't loved anything from Opeth since Ghost Reveries, or really even liked much since Watershed, but this new one is surprising me a bit in spots.

Mikael clearly won't ever let the 70s prog thing go at this point, but there are genuinely heavy passages, and others that are more haunting and atmospheric than what little I remember from the last few LPs... even if some lame mellotron lines are still sprinkled atop them.

 

Car Bomb record is mind melting. Xoxoy might be their best song ever

 

The .gif from god album is the equivalent of what Bruce Willis looked like at the end of Die Hard. Holy crap...

 

Creeping Death record bangs as expected

 

The SeeYouSpaceCowboy album is very good and it’s nice to see them expanding their sound.
