I would think Mark is the type of person that would go back and watch/listen to his performance and realize those higher notes in the verses aren't working out, then adjust. But he didn't do it for the Today Show. So, I don't know what he's thinking.

 

they'd actually need to re-work some of the backing tracks and whatnot and apparently that's too much of a hassle.

 

Bad performance aside, I'm so happy fender jazzmasters/jaguars have been slowly making a comeback in the past 5-6 years.

Performance was okay; started rough. Even Matt's verse was a little iffy. But by the bridge they seemed to have found their groove. Not the best performance, not the worst.

Yes, that's why I'm asking. I feel like Green Day is looked at in the music industry more favorable than blink but blink probably has the "stats" to get in. Just not sure if they ever would or even have that shot.

I guess at least you can hear just how much pitch correction there is on the new stuff compared to the old with the BTD live performances. Nobody ever said there wasn't sheen added to the old songs but at least when they come to do it live it's still within their vocal range with WMAA et al.

 

that's simply not true. Nobody is hating on Mark, it's just blatantly obvious that he's struggling with BTD. If anything, people are being incredibly constructive.

 

Obviously I'd love to see them get in too, I'm just not sure who ever votes on this stuff would give them a hard look because they would simply dismiss them because they sang that song about a dog or building a pool or running around naked in LA. I mean if Green Day's career ended before American Idiot I doubt they would ever get in.

Again though I admit to knowing next to nothing on the music HOF topic.

 

See, I think everyone has always known neither Mark nor Tom were ever great live. If you saw them live and then listened to TMT&TS album, you know half of it can't be live, haha.

I want them to keep Stockholm Syndrome off the set, because Mark singing the bridge is so monotone and dull live. I love the dude, but yeah, his voice is average at a show. I guess it just doesn't bother me that much.

 

Greatest Hits is #103 on this weeks Billboard 200.

If that BTD performance was the first time I'd ever seen blink in my life I'd think they were absolutely terrible I'll be honest. Even Matt didn't sound great. I liked how Mark screamed the "I" before the first chorus though although if he did the whole song like that he might not be able to talk again for 6 months. Haha.

WMAA sounded fine though.

 

Whenever someone complains about Tom not being in the band so they won't even give California a chance and bash it whenever they can

 

Cynical and California, far and away the best stuff on this.

 

Honestly I thought the performance was fine, better than other performances of BTD. Mark doesn't have a perfect voice, so what.

 

I always have the time of my life at blink shows when I'm actually there but this isn't a band I would listen to live performances of on YouTube

No one is clamouring for perfection. We want him to stop struggling (and failing). It sounds unpleasant and out of key, and it's totally needless.
