I feel the same...it's subtle because her music is inherently subtle, but it really is a huge leap.

I can't imagine showing this song to someone and them not at least enjoying it

To the same degree, I would understand someone listening to it as mere background music. Pleasant but nothing enthralling. I'm down for it, but I can see it going either way.

Absolutely, but that was the case with her music before. This is much more immediate in the sense they might not pay attention, but theres a greater chance they’ll be toe-tapping or rocking without consciously thinking about it.

  9. New EP coming this Fall.
The Japanese House (otherwise known as Amber Bain) has announced her forthcoming EP, Something Has To Change, to be released this fall via Dirty Hit Records. Along with the announcement comes the release of the EP's title track which was co-produced by Bain along with BJ Burton (Bon Iver, Francis & The Lights) - PRESS HERE to listen and PRESS HERE to watch the accompanying video.

Something Has To Change follows The Japanese House's debut full-length, Good at Falling, out now - PRESS HERE to listen. The album includes the "existential crisis turned love song" (NME) "Maybe You're the Reason," the "ethereal yet pummeling" (Pitchfork) "Follow My Girl," the deceptively upbeat "We Talk All The Time," and "dreamy synth-pop anthem" (Idolator) "Lilo." Earlier this summer, The Japanese House released the LA Session EP, which features re-imagined live versions of tracks from Good At Falling. PRESS HERE to listen.

The Japanese House will return to North America this October. The tour will launch in Austin, Texas with an appearance at Austin City Limits Music Festival, with stops at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, California and Warsaw in Brooklyn, New York, before wrapping at Corona Capital in Mexico City. Full routing can be found below.

Just discovered this yesterday and it has been a long, long time since I’ve been this deeply moved and affected by an album

Also the sequencing on this makes it all the more enjoyable. I love when I can listen to an album and hardly detect when one song ends and the next starts. It flows so seamlessly.

Tell me something: is there a point to this?
Or are we living for the feeling when we look back on what we did and reminisce?

Might go see her this Saturday.

Haven't decided yet, since I don't do shows as often these days, have slightly less disposable income than I once did, & don't think I have anyone to go w/ me. But on the flip side, the venue she's playing in apparently has this dope light installation that I'd love to hear her music in.
