Feel like thats a problem in most horror games. Dead Space opens terrifying but you become desensitized to the jump scares a few hours in.

 

Condemned: Criminal Origins doesn't and remains my favorite horror game for that reason!

easily the most scared and reluctant to continue i've ever been playing a game. kept the jump scares totally fresh throughout and the levels were literally oppressive in design.

 

I wasn't impressed with the second one and the random addition of MP.

 

oh yeah, second one didn't come to PC and i'm pretty ok with that.

 

You didn't miss much. They changed the gameplay a lot and the addition of mp was so unneeded.

 

I have condemned in my steam library, heard it hasn't aged well though.

I just played the demo when it originally came out.

edit: I wouldn't say it's aged worse or better than any other game. some the design choices and villain design is a little dated but nothing out of the ordinary. but i rarely have a problem with outdated games anyway so

 

I couldn't finish Condemned. Game is scary as shit.

 

I finished the first episode of Alan Wake and ok it wasn't super bad on the tense moments. It was nice that most of the monsters were always a few feet away so you can usually flash them before they get close.

I am kinda bitter though that I can't finish the manuscript since it will require a play through on nightmare difficulty.

 

Yeah, having manuscripts locked behind difficulty upsets me also, don't get it.

 

Mainly the pacing which felt really slow in the beginning and rushed as all hell in the third act, and the ending which felt a bit too similar to 2's ending.

 

Was randomly brought up by the Giantbomb guys when one of them was playing Pray last week. I'll take a look at it after I dig through my backlog.

I think I might post a speed run every few days from SGDQ that was good even though this one wasn't considered a speed run.

 

Completed The Walking Dead: Michonne last night. Super short but a nice break from the everyday game. That chick has got some issues!
