I gotta give Static Prevails some attention sometime. It’s the only officially released album from them that I don’t like tbh

They keep calling this their tenth album and it’s making me feel wrong that I have yet to hear their self titled debut, is it really that bad?

Hey now. Look at you. Way cool.

Not at all. It's a decent pop punk album. Think early blink.

Their self-titled is so far above early blink that it has to wear a space suit

through should've been a single from integrity blues. the catchiest song theyve ever written in my opinion.

Lots of band first records really don’t represent who they become.

Thrice’s Identity Crisis came to mind for me too. Yellowcard pre One For The Kids. Jimmy’s Static. Blink’s really early stuff. There a lot one could throw into the category.

I like Waiting, but I never listen to it because the rest of the band's discography is amazing. Tough to get any kind of love with that competition.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

y'all writing off the first album are missing out on the absolute banger that is "Scientific", sorry to say

Chevelle's first album comes to mind. It's not terrible but it's nothing that they didnt do much much better on the next few albums.

Thursday’s Waiting has This Side Of Brightness on it though, which is one of my favorite Thursday songs. I also like a handful of stuff from blinks Buddha and Yellowcard’s One For The Kids (Uh October Nights anyone?) so those aren’t total misses either.

Honestly when I was growing up I thought it was very commonplace for your first record to suck haha

Incoming hot take: I think Tell All Your Friends is bad compared to what TBS became afterwards with WYWTB and Louder Now.

Fair enough, but it’s still pretty damn good. In my opinion you can’t compare Thursday’s first album to JEW’s first album considering Jim doesn’t even really sing on the first JEW album.

I wouldn’t put Thursday in the category of dismissing bands’ first albums.
