I still can’t believe they managed to fuck that up. Ole was perfect as the caretaker. Even with the end of last seasons results. If he left at the end of the season we’d be saying he did well. But the board jumped into a knee jerk decision after we beat PSG.

tbf it would take a miracle worker to get anything out of the squad ole was given this year

United has, what, two world class players (De Gea and Pogba) and even then, in their form the last 18 months that seems like a very generous distinction?

They’re so far behind in squad development to City/Liverpool it’s not even funny. Tottenham and Chelsea are in better shape, but only barely. Arsenal is just as sad.

    hmmm

United's squad is poor and completely unbalanced but that's another reason why replacing Mourinho with Solskjaer is such a lazy short term decision.

It's been obvious since Ferguson left but they need a massive overhaul in structure from top down.

I don’t even know what we need to be quite honest. We need a manger who will be able to tell players how to play football. Even against fucking Astana we struggled to play out from the back and that was with 77% possession! I refuse to believe these players we have are incapable of playing one/two touch and move football. But I haven’t seen that happen outside of a few pre season games.

Like we’re entirely incapable of playing against any team that pressures us, anywhere on the pitch. I don’t think getting one or two more world class players will help with that.

Most of all Woodward needs to go, or stop being involved in football matters. We also need to stop this ridiculous “United way” nonsense that Neville et al go on about. The “United way” doesn’t and has never existed. It was the “Fergie way” but Ferguson is gone, we need to move on. Football has, so why haven’t we?

on the plus side, I’m so used to this now it no longer ruins my day when we lose.

Not sure if it's a good idea to post the tweet itself in here but Bernardo Silva has fucked up bad today. Posted a very stupid, racist tweet comparing a young Benjamin Mendy to a racially insensitive mascot of a Spanish Chocolate company 'Conguitos'. Then got mad when people called him out on it :-|

  9. I still have hope with the current Spurs situation. It's been a rough last 6 months or so despite making it to the CL final. The start of this season has been disastrous for a few reasons. One reason is injuries. Foyth and KWP (our 1 and 2 RBs) both go down within first week of the season. Dele begins the season injured (has only made one start so far). Then Lo Celso goes down during the first international break. Just as he was starting to get more involved with the team.

Add in the Eriksen drama and it made squad selections very difficult. Poch was frustrated by all the transfer window drama. I really think the media has a better chance of driving him out than Levy or poor performances. Speaking of Levy, I don't think Poch sees him as a problem like some people portray. Levy bought Poch's top 3 targets (NDombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon) and was close to acquiring Dybala (rumors say it will be completed in January).

I think Poch was actually kinda clear in his vision. At the end of last season he said we needed to make "tough decisions" with the squad and make necessary upgrades. NDombele, Lo Celso, Dybala would certainly be upgrades imo. I guess I'm just going to tell myself this season is more of a transitional season. The squad had become stale and Poch could see it wasn't good enough. Now we are in the middle of the "tough decisions" and transforming/upgrading the squad.

At least our players aren’t doing this? :crylaugh:

  12. Its weird that it’s normal to lose and know it doesn’t likely matter because United, Chelsea, Arsenal will also lose.

    I do not exist.

It's Leicester, West Ham and Bournemouth you need to be watching this season, not those average teams!

  16. If I remember correctly, Ole came into United during a very easy part of their schedule. They beat a bunch of bottom half teams and won a couple cup games. Then had the PSG game. It was perfect timing for him to come in and win everyone over. But it should’ve been obvious what was going on.

Love how we're possibly the worst we have been for roughly 25 years and yet we're still 3 pts better off than Chelsea, United and Spurs.

That's how bad the Premier League is this year.

    Emery has to go.

I see the defence of him being that he has a fantastic use of substitutions and that he is good at reading how to change a game, but that's only because he continually gets the starting 11 wrong.

How he has persisted with Xhaka over Torreira is insane, all because he likes "bigger" players.

Same with his unwillingness to change our centre backs. Chambers needs to come in for either Luiz or Sokratis, because that pairing isn't working. In fact, I'd argue I'd rather have Chambers paired with Holding when he comes back as our starting pairing.

AMN has been hung out to dry as a midfielder having to play right back because we have no other options, and it shows continually, including yesterday. Now until Bellerin comes back we'll probably have to keep Chambers at right back and persevere with Luiz/Mustafi/Sokratis at CB.

    We're utterly fucked.

Bellerin and Tierney both back playing for reserves now I think so at least that's a plus for you that they'll be in the XI pretty soon. Arsenal have a crop of youngsters that are as promising as Chelsea's but Emery does not seem to trust them as much as Lampard trusts his - would love to see that partnership of Holding + Chambers be given a chance, they should go:

    Leno
    Bellerin, Chambers, Holding, Tierney
    Torreira, Guendouzi, Ceballos
    Pepe, Aubameyang, Lacazette

  24. When Lo Celso is healthy and back in the lineup I hope Poch finally commits to the 433.

    Son Kane Lucas
    NDombele Winks Lo Celso
    Rose Jan Toby Aurier

Aurier has actually looked very impressive in his two starts. RB is still the weakest position but if he keeps up that level of play we are more than ok for this season. But I think this lineup has our three best goal scorers as well as three midfielders who are capable of completely controlling a game. It just seems like all 6 guys will never be healthy at the same time.

Major issue with that lineup is the midfield, Ceballos isn’t a 10 so you’re basically playing an 8 as a 10 with very little link between midfield and attack. It’s been our issue all year, even more when when we play what amounts to 2 strikers because they want to drop deep to link up even less. Özil would be perfect in that XI instead of Ceballos but Emery despises him and won’t give in to starting him. Our whole offensive scheme is either to look for a cutback down the flank or hope Auba bails us out with individual brilliance. Emery just isn’t a forward thinking manager and he has no base philosophy, he works to negate the opposition first which in my opinion is not what a big club should look to do
