12 Years Ago today BTBAM released what is arguably their best album: Colors

I am going to go with Alaska but this is a close runner up.

Guess I need to hit that up today

 

Alaska > Colors > The Silent Circus > Self-Titled >>> Everything else.

I miss old BTBAM.

 

I'm soooooo pumped for this album. ONE WEEK!

 

Colors is number one for me, then Alaska.

I'm also quite partial to the whole of Parallax.

 

I somehow missed the BTBAM train despite being into the members' other projects and other similar bands. I should probably go back and listen to a few of the older records. I remember hearing Silent Circus years ago, but I don't know if I've ever even heard the others.

 

Colors = Alaska for me. I couldn't rank either above each other.

 

It you were to just do the run of Silent Circus, Alaska and Colors I think you would be pleasantly surprised.

 

To hear these albums back to back for the first time ever would be a treat for any metal fan. Highly recommend. You’ll likely find familiarity in their influence of at least 100 bands @riotspray

 

Sweet. I'll try to carve out some time to give those 3 a spin. Despite listening to a million and one different bands, I still have a few glaring blind spots that I need to take care of.

 

Damn I'm jealous of anyone listening to them for the first time

Random Friday thoughts:

-The new Coffins is exactly what I need from a death/doom album in 2019.

-The new Cult of Luna is awesome, but I'm not sure my hardcore driven attention span has the stomach to listen to a 79 minute long album several times.

-Speaking of post-metal, the new Snow Burial is solid stuff. Loud, atmospheric post-metal out of Chicago.

-Here's a small dosage of some French grindviolence from Chiens to round out your Friday:

I don't remember if they were posted, but Haunt had a couple splits that came out last week. Good old fashioned heavy metal. Saw them open for Toxic Holocaust and Municipal Waste, they put on a great show:

 

I gotta keep promoting these dudes. They're from my home town, on the cusp of blowing up, and everything they keep putting out has been sicker than the last. Their debut album is out Friday. At least stream it.
