heres the dry rub oak smoked pork ribs I made last weekend

 

Just made broccoli soup with with only broccoli, water, salt, and pepper. You don’t need anything else. I sprinkled a little sharp cheddar on top. But it’s amazing how something so simple can be so good.

 

a dude I know from college is roasting a hole hog this weekend and inviting people to come over.
he also may or may not be involved with my ex, and I don’t want to confirm that out at a public gathering.

 

Unsure of half of what I’ve eaten in Portugal so far but it’s all been amazing.

Edit: pao com chourico (essentially bread stuffed with chorizo) is great and I know I’ll never find it at home so i’m gonna eat a million while I’m here. Same for the pastel de nata.

 

Octopus is...good??? Never tried it before but had a tentacle served like a hot dog and it was great.

Highlights from the Japanese food festival I went to in NYC this past Saturday!

Chicken katsu curry, yakisoba, and matcha souffle pancakes!

 

I made homemade tomato soup and bread (for the first time)! Then made grilled cheese with the bread to have with the soup, came out really good even though it was super hot...I think I'm ready to start making comfort food haha.

 

That sounds awesome! I've never attempted making bread. I love a good homemade tomato soup though.

 

Not a huge fan of tomato soup on its own, but grilled cheese dipped in it is a top tier combo

 

I used this recipe. Didn't have a thermometer so had to go with feeling on what constituted "warm but not hot" for the liquids and also don't have a mixer, so had to mix it all by hand. Was afraid I would mess it up but they came out perfect!! (if a tadddd bit denser than I wanted, I think they just needed to cook a little longer).

Then made this tomato soup, though I used 4 cups veggie stock and 4 cups water. Found it a little lacking in flavor at this point, next time I'll make sure I have enough stock on hand even though the recipe calls for water. So I then also grated parmesean cheese into it and added some cayenne pepper cause I wanted a kick to it, definitely helped.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I also don't have a blender, so had to wait for the soup to cool enough so I could blend it in small batches in my nutribullet. Was...really annoying and made a huge mess haha. Wish I had a proper kitchen setup
