I love how dynamic the intros and outros are on this album. Lots of great little nuggets. They mentioned how a lot of songs came from a drum or production idea Travis had. Wonder if he is the driving force of the interesting textures on this one. They keep things interesting inbetween the massive choruses throughout.

 

What about Pin the Grenade? That song's a top-40 hit IMO if they play their cards right.

I guess this version of blink has put less importance on the riffs... that’s the only thing lacking for me on this record.

 

Lol I downloaded the leak earlier because that was my ritual when I was younger. I remember when TOYPAJ leaked, and I was downloading tracks one at a time on dial-up. I would add each track to my Winamp and keep playing on loop while the next one downloaded. Took about 15 minutes per song. It was a very long night. And I got to know those first few tracks really well.

This time around, I connected to my VPN, searched, clicked a link, and the album was on my computer in less than 2 minutes. Then it was streamable from my phone shortly after that. Magic.

And I will of course be legally streaming it on repeat on Spotify Premium after it drops. Maybe buying the physical album if I can find it locally. California is one of the few releases I've physically purchased in the last few years.

 

Try a different USB port on your computer. Also, if you're using a generic cable, it may not support data transfer (some are charge only). Definitely try a legit apple cable if you have one around. Or just a different one.

@TheJMan linked me that....it’s tempting. But after Jimmy Eat World threatened to sue me for downloading Futures once I’m iffy about that kind of stuff these days.

Maybe a hot take, but I think this record could be 3 songs shorter. I could go without Ransom, Hungover You, and Remember to Forget Me. Let that freaky guitar tone at the end of On Some Emo Shit ring out with a massive drum part and close the curtain with the only song that was touched by the three members of Blink.
